App State 26th, Troy 35th.

If VT had beaten Cincy, we're ranked.

Three SBC teams in the top 35. Troy and GS tied at 35.

Huh, only one CUSA team received votes. But I thought CUSA was far superior and more prestigious. UAB having to do the heavy lifting. Pollsters seem to think the SBC champ is greater than the CUSA champ.

Very close to 7 non-P5 teams in the final rankings.

RE: Week 16 Final AP Pol
I'm surprised Boise State didn't drop. I understand that their game was cancelled but the portion of the game that was played saw them severely over matched. I'm not sure that they should've been punished for not finishing but App's performance to close out the season, and really the entire season in general aside from the Statesboro Massacre, was worthy of a #25 spot. I don't believe that Boise would've been ranked had their game been played. I think everyone thought that App had finally reached their pinnacle and would fall off once losing to Southern but as in years past they trudged along and picked up steam going into Bowl Season.

It was only 10 min of gametime. If you look at just the first 10 minutes of last night's game you'd think it would be a barn burner down to the last second, but that wasn't the case.

I imagine people had heartburn about penalizing a team that didn't get to finish the game for circumstances outside of their control. I can see both sides of the argument but you can't fault people for not dropping them.

Seriously, the after first 10 min of last nights game I was getting read to watch another season ending thriller.

Sadly.. that was not the case.

As I said, I'm not in favor of penalizing a team for not playing but even based on the seasons results I'm not positive that a 3 loss Boise deserved to be ranked over a 2 loss App State team. I think Georgia Southern likely deserved to be higher, largely based on defense. Troy with their starter back was a completely different team who had the ability to stretch the field vertically and very well could've been in the Top 30.

RE: Week 16 Final AP Pol
So from this AP Poll can we say the final G5 Top Ten is:
1 - UCF
2 - Fresno St
3 - Army
4 - Utah St
5 - Bosie St
6 - Cincinnati
7 - App
8 - UAB
t9 - Troy
t9 - GS

This acutally looks pretty good to me. 3 MW teams, 2 AAC teams, 1 CUSA team, 1 Independent and 3 Sun Belt Teams at the top of the G5 heap!

Fresno State and Cincinnati were also both overrated. They beat .500 P5 teams and people act like it's a vindication for them. Fresno also lost to Minnesota before beating up on a weak lower 3/4 MWC.

And people wonder why the AAC/MWC champs/#2 would rather play mediocre P5 teams in bowls than another G5 champ.

The next bowl realignment hopefully will allow the Sun Belt Champ to choose a bowl that is either a #1/#2 G5 or a mid-pack P5

Pains me to say it but App deserved to be in the top 25 at the end of the year. Their resume was solid. I do take joy in knowing the beat down we gave them in Statesboro is the reason they aren't

Three Sun Belt teams making a nice statement is better than two and Troys win over Southern wouldn't look as nice. They finished strong as Southern did so that helps as well. Just sayin.
