Idc where you fall on border security, putting a wall up won’t stop anything. Physical barriers can easily be overcome and are ineffective. The only surefire way to seal an open border would be to mine it but I doubt private land owners would like that.
Patton suggested that fortifications were monuments to the stupidity of man.

Quote:Border Patrol agents say they can’t be much clearer: They want more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Quote:it will boost their ability to nab or deter would-be illegal immigrants.
Oh, and this, too...
Quote:Agents also said they need the government to change the “catch and release” policy. They often have to immediately release illegal border crossers they arrest, giving them the chance to disappear into the shadows with the 11 million other illegal immigrants in the U.S.
But this part here... would Democrats support ending "catch and release"? I mean, they say they support reform. Would they start here?

And yet, Israel says they are 99% effective along their border.
Ironic he quotes Patton related to the Mexican border.
Considering Patton crossed the border chasing Pancho Villa for committing crimes in the USA as an illegal entrant and strapped 3 of his mens dead bodies to his hood.

Just curious...
Why do we have walls around prisons?
or why gated communities
or ask isreal how effective it is at the west bank
or ask san diego and el paso
or.....
there's a shiteload of "or's" that demonstrate the effectiveness of a barrier at strategic locations....
how anyone with a lick of sense doesn't understand the concept of 'steering to entry' is beyond help and not worth debating in earnest...
the dippos can simply die on their "orange man bad" for all I care....

I don't pretend to be an expert, but I would guess that the answer to your question is one of scale. Walling in a 50-acre prison compound is an entirely different thing than walling off a 2,000-mile border.
Jared is right. The wall is not an effective solution.
What we instead need is the resolve to put a stop to any giveaways to non-citizens. Our taxpayers are NOT responsible for the feeding, clothing, housing, education and healthcare of the millions unfortunate enough to have been born elsewhere and not otherwise eligible to legally immigrate. (If Bette Midler wants to take responsibility for lifting up others, she is welcome to do so - - with HER money.)
Stop the irresponsible plundering of the American taxpayer, close the publicly funded schools, hospitals and breadlines to all but actual citizens, and the illegal hordes will (to revive a weasly Romney term) self-deport.
Will it happen instantly? No. But in the long run it will be far more effective than the simplistic Trump approach.

1) A border wall isn’t a fortification.
2). Want to bet that Patton was referring to defensive fortifications used against Military actions?
3). Prisons have walls to keep people in. You don’t think a border wall wouldn’t help keep people out? In both cases, the wall is not the only method of protection......

While I agree that your ideas would stop some benefit seekers, it will not stop criminals and terrorists and those are the ones I am most concerned about. Sex trafficking and opioid abuse are at all time highs, and most of the drugs are coming from Mexico.

Worlds of difference between warfare and border security. Anybody who doesn't see that is either partisan, stupid, or likely both.

Walls work. Chain linc fence does not. You look very foolish saying otherwise. Watch both videos and feel ashamed that you follow blindly what your masters tell you.
Not building a wall just because Trump is the president doing it is absurdly childish.
How many American flags do you see in the above video? None is the correct answer. “Migrants” proudly waiving the flags of the chithole country’s they claim they are fleeing. I for one don’t think we need that here and I don’t care at all whatever color they happen to be.

Here's the problem with what you want....
4,000 miles of walls (double wall) will be build and funded with repairs for the next 100 years. Before anyone will vote for what you said.
Even if they do...it will not stop people from crossing the border. The job they get in America is 10x better than they get at home and they dont get those other things in your post, in Mexico
The Wall does work in the places its already up so there are facts against "The wall is not an effective solution"

That’s your logic? They don’t allow prisoners to have ladders, tools, and prisons generally speaking aren’t 2000 miles long or wide.

Then you’re very simple minded. There’s no difference of will of the determined, as a war vet I know the similarities. Good day
