Look guys the only thing that matters after tonight is that Clemson will be National Champions. Every body else lost!

Also Syracuse should leapfrog those three loss SEC teams like Kentucky, LSU and Florida, also other three/four loss teams like Michigan, Texas, Washington and Penn State.

Syracuse should finish no lower than 12. No one gave Clemson a tougher game than they did.

They had a great game plan. The defense did a great job confusing Tua and keeping the offense off. The offense capitalized on every opportunity and absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage.

The better team won tonight.

As for most Alabama fans, its still kind of cool to see Dabo win.

See y'all next year.

Rankings are based on who you beat more so than moral victories in terms of "good losses". We should be #15 any higher or lower is questionable.

But one thing we know for sure, Clemson will be #1 and Alabama #2.

Cheers,
Neil

For those of you who enjoy pain, the Alabama post game presser is underway on the SECN.

did you watch the Sugar Bowl?

Of course! But I think the loss in the SEC Championship game mentally gutted them. Just my humble opinion...

Their hubris gutted them. They thought they were better than they were and thought they were playing UMass again instead of a team with about as much starting talent as them (but not the depth).

As a Georgia fan, you would know more than I. But why and how did the team have that disposition?

SEC! SEC! SEC! They thought that patch on their sleeve made them better than any non-SEC team just because Alabama has been better than anyone else. Also, they kicked Alabama's tail for 3 quarters before fading in the 4th. Nobody else had challenged Alabama all season. They also bought into the Big 12 has no defense nonsense.

A couple of the Texas linebackers were saying UGA was talking trash early on, but at the end of the game, they were saying, "we didn't know you could hit so hard."

The fans thought it would be a walkover. The coaches and players were saying the right things, but its hard to avoid being infected when the fans and students think it will be easy. Texas hit them in the mouth and marched down the field the first drive and they were in shock.

The announcers had a live show in the Hilton the night before where Georgia was staying and were saying UGA would run at will. I was thinking they had never actually seen Texas play. My wife was talking trash too! I told her exactly how the game would go and it did. Unfortunately, I saw a lot of Texas teams with that same hubris in bowl games in the Fred Akers years, so it was pretty predictable. The UT line whipped the UGA line both sides of the ball. From the OU games, Georgia should have known better. Or what Texas did to USC, 37-14 (who wasn't a great team, but was loaded with talent).

UGA is loaded with talent, probably better than anyone but Alabama and Clemson (and maybe better than Clemson), but you can't play your 1st, 2nd and 3rd string at the same time. Its still 11 on 11. And the Texas top 11 were a close match for UGA's top 11.

In the last 43 minutes they were shut out.

Of course they passed on 3 FGs. But then extra points were an adventure tonight, so that wasn't a sure thing.

A&M lost 28-26 when they missed a 2 point conversion in the last minute. They also outgained Clemson by 100 yards, but had 2 more turnovers.

Georgia does have talent. Their line whipped the Alabama line for 3 quarters and Tua got rattled like he did against Clemson. He was 10-25 with 2 INTs. But then Hurd came in and running QBs are tough for anyone. Plus Alabama seems to have a psychological advantage over UGA. UGA lost heartbreakers to Alabama in the SEC ccg in 2012, this year and in the title game last year.

Over the 5 years:

#2 seed is 7-2
#4 seed is 4-3
#1 seed is 3-5
#3 is 1-5.

The higher seed is 0-5 in the championship game.
So for people who think the committee is good at picking the "best" teams....

The only three loss SEC team better than Syracuse is Georgia. Also, Notre Dame is on par with Alabama, better than Ohio State. For God's sake, Notre Dame's only loss is 27 points to Clemson. Ohio State's single loss is 29 points to Purdue!

I wonder if it says the committee stinks at picking the best teams or if there is more parity than people like to assume?

2014: #4 beat #2
2015: #2 beat #1
2016: #2 beat #1
2017: #4 beat #3
2018: #2 beat #1

Made championship game:
#1 - 60%
#2 - 80%
#3 - 20%
#4 - 40%

Win championship:

top 2 seeds are 7-4 when not playing each other now. +130 in those 11 games. With 6 of the 7 wins by at least 17 points.

And hate to tell you- but the BCS formula in ALL 5 years would have had these EXACT same seeds in each and every year.

Alabama/Clemson are 7-1 when not playing each other in the playoffs.....

everyone else has 4 wins.

And if you take it to the last 4 years
Alabama/Clemson are 7-0 when not playing each other.
Georgia only other team to win a playoff game

Game was won in the red zone.

Clemson had around 50 yards per drive.
Bama had around 42 (48 ish prior to the last throw at all costs drive)

Points per trip inside the other’s 22 yard line with each team having five trips?
Clemson- 6.2
Bama-2
