So, where is the upset of the week coming in Week 10? GCU at UTRGV?

In terms of upsets, I say Cal Baptist loses to Chicago State.

Things will eventually play out, but I think it's awesome that most of these games are coinflip games. Like, I would be really shocked if Cal Baptist lost and NMSU got swept at home. Besides that, let's get weird.

My predictions:
Thursday's games...
Cal Baptist over UM Kansas City (CBU wins their first WAC road game)
UTRGV over Cal State Bakersfield (should be a very close game)
NMSU over GCU (Aggies are fired up after CBU loss and take it to the Lopes)

Saturday's games...
CSU over CBU (my predicted upset)
NMSU over Cal State Bakersfield (Aggies right the ship and CSUB falls to the middle of the WAC pack)
GCU over UT Rio Grande Valley (GCU pulls out their first road victory)
UVU over Seattle (SU is now regretting their comfy, stay home OOC schedule as they go to 0-3 to start WAC play)

We seem to like being 20+ down in the first half then make a comeback and win. It's quite frustrating.

Well it's a lot better than our old strategy of throwing away first half leads.

Good predictions. Not sure they are right but they seem right. However, first weekend was wild and I really don't know what to think. We will see which Aggies show up tonight and this weekend. They have been all over the board, almost beating on the road to the #2 ranked blue blood Kansas, then laying a sticker agaisnt first year in D1 team CBU. Aggies better bring it or it could be 0-3 start for NMSU and Aggie fans will be losing their cookies.

I don't like making game predictions, because these games are so tight, but I would think if CBU beats UMKC tonight, they will definitely beat Chicago State on Saturday. CBU does not have a deep roster and when they get in foul trouble, they can struggle on both ends of the floor, which is what happened against UTRGV. So if they stay out of foul trouble, they should be okay in these two road games.

The NMSU vs GCU game should be entertaining. Obviously, NMSU needs to win tonight at home and for GCU, this should be a good test. I thought GCU might be the best team in the conference before the season started, but they did not look good in non-conference play. In the blowout loss to Texas, I thought GCU quit. Never a good sign. So it will be interesting to see what happens when the Aggies punch them in the mouth tonight. Will they quit or fight?

CBU loses on the road at UMKC, 84-68. They had a 10 point lead early, but from there it was all UMKC. Good win for UMKC. Now I am worried about the game at Chicago State. Milan Acquaah was held to eight points. I am not sure what happened to him tonight.

NMSU likes giving GCU Hope and then snatching it away

RE: WAC basketball week 10
NMSU should have won the game but our best two guards let us down at the end. Johnny McCants just reset the Aggie win; what should have happened if our guards had played to their norm at the end.

NMSU is still struggling to find an offensive and defensive rhythm. This win still keeps our Aggies in the hunt for a regular season championship until Jans can get this team to peak in March.

The Pan American Center is a legendery place to watch college basketball. This place has seen some memorable moments and this is up there with beating Larry Bird, beating the national champions UNLV, and beating Utah State in the 2007 WAC Tournament Championship game.

Yeah, yeah, you own us. NMSU is the best! Btw, great to have all the Aggie fans back on the WAC blog. It was pretty quiet after the Cal Baptist loss. Welcome back! 04-bow

To this point, the only (current) WAC team to upset NMSU on its home court is Utah Valley. Drechsel left the door open for NMSU... and McCants slammed the door shut in GCU's face. Next up Cal State Bakersfield.

The new plan was deployed again last night. It didn't work.

RE: WAC basketball week 10
UMKC quietly has been on a tear since their 1-7 start. A blowout over Fort Wayne by 17 points on the road, who is looking like the best OOC WAC road win more and more. They held Milan Acquaah to a season worst game while beating CBU.

Speaking of Milan, he is currently taking 26.5% of CBUs shot attempts this season, 11th highest in the nation. 45.7% when you count him and their second leading scorer. Both a major difference from rest of the conference.

Basically, take him out and you're good. Just like UMKC shows. Him winning POY like some say he should would be the same as Martez Harrison
