Monday Musings
Friday night's game was bad. Defeated in all facets of the game. Too bad because a nice crowd on hand minus students (who are still on break?) 2300 saw a coach from Romulus bring in a nationally ranked Buffalo team and possibly wreck the mac season before it begins.
JT 4 is not an nba prospect and probably not even a G-league player. reminds me of a poor mans Andre Drummond and gets stats when game is out of reach.

Toure and JT4 in at the time seemed to be a great disappointment to the fans that sat behind me and I get it, it was the clogged toilet offense.
Down 25 late EMU did not empty their bench left starters in. message being sent is????

Seat probably warming up on Murphy and for those that want him gone I hope you their are ideas on who you want to replace him.
Possibility of another MAC west coaching change? Looks like NIU could lose their football coach to Temple.

I think the State of Michigan is a good basketball fan state but only when teams are good. No one wants to venture out of the house in this weather to watch bad basketball.

IF my eyes didn't deceive me the top freshman in the nation Emoni Bates was at the game. Would you hire his dad to be head coach in 2020 to get at least one season of his son playing college ball in ypsi?

We're still exactly where we were before. Top mid-major teams, we are losing by a couple buckets. Cupcakes, we win by 20. Ranked teams, we lose after our first scoring drought (which happens at about the seven minute mark of the first half).

If he's the top freshman in the nation, he's not going to EMU or Buffalo.

Additional Musing
Kudos to the Athletic marketing team, since the 2013-2014 season I have noticed a huge increase in promotions and marketing for games and I think it pays off a little bit like the crowd we saw Friday night. Saturday's deal for the stein and three drink tickets is worth it in itself not counting the game.

Should be interesting to see how schools recruit son and father.

EJ Bates is a coach. Milan is his hometown and I actually saw him play in HS. I'm sure there will be plenty of colleges trying to hire him in some capacity. This could get very interesting...and a little dirty.

I would guess that by the time Emoni graduates from high school, the NBA will have changed their policies and he won’t have to go to college if he doesn’t want to go.

How can you say that Michigan isn’t a basketball state when 2300 ventured to the Convo to see the home team get its ass whipped?

I don't say it, local news media says it often. I think people in Michigan are smart basketball fans and do not want to watch garbage, people will go to an EMU, UDM, game if the team is intriguing. Be interesting to see Oakland's attendance as they enter a rebuild it appears.
