Chris Jans to UCLA?
Just saw this article in Mid-Major Madness. They list Jans as one of the five mid-major coaches that UCLA should consider. Doubt that will happen, but it does show how well respected Coach Jans is.

Never going to happen. None of those five are candidates. The line that "Jans has a knack for finding all-conference type players in the junior college ranks and for snagging key transfers, which can help jumpstart UCLA in a pinch" is ridiculous. The current UCLA roster is loaded with talent. They have three McDonald's All-Americans on the roster and a roster full of four & five star players. They do not need juco players.

The team quit on Alford. They turned him off. He could not get the team to play defense or play for each other. The team was soft. They need a well respected coach that will hold them accountable. The names I have heard are Billy Donovan and Fred Hoiberg, but I am sure there are others.

Jans is obviously a very good coach, but he got fired at Bowling Green for some inappropriate behavior with a woman in a bar while being intoxicated. UCLA and a lot of schools would not be interested in taking that on.

Chris Jans to UCLA?
UCLA has always been cheap, they need to open the wallet this time.

They might not have been paying the absolute highest salary, but in no way they were cheap. What makes it harder for coaches is the very stringent requirements for transfers, especially grad transfers. That is why someone like Hoiberg, who did very well at Iowa State, would probably not be hired at UCLA.

This is the kind of move UCLA does not want to make. Especially when their last failed coach came from very similar program

RE: Chris Jans to UCLA?
Jans pretty much chased away any big time hires with a loss to Cal Baptist.

Chris Jans to UCLA?
I think the favorite is Nevada’s Musselman.

Agree on Jans (JuCo for one and done power UCLA, with UC admission process? --- he is DQ'd even before the morals questions) and the others, those are not happening. Only exception is Musselman, who can handle NBA talent, has NBA experience - a different level of coach - and his best two players are leaving after this year (right time to move). UCLA will be very deliberate and select somebody after the season when the field of candidates open up. They will likely pilfer another power/major program.

P12 has plenty of player talent, but the coaching has not been able to harness it recently, nor surround the pre-NBA players with a good core. Talent is not an issue, especially at UCLA.
