RE: Temple interested in Carey
While I'd love to see this happen, Temple fans don't seem to happy to hear his name (I wonder why lol), Rod got a new house in Sycamore recently I heard, and a couple contract extensions as well. I think Temple would be better off getting Leipold as he probably has a better feel for recruiting up in the northeast.

I know I am in the minority around here, but I hope he stays. That is my first reaction to hearing the news.

Ok, I think you FedEx a check to this address:
ATTN: Sean T. Frazier
Intercollegiate Athletics
Convocation Center (CV)
DeKalb, IL 60115

Hopefully FedEx are faster overnight mail carriers than owls.

I think it would be a great move for Carey, get to a conference that really matters like people on here say.

ADs always have a short list. Who do you think is on SF's list?

Would be close to $2M if it’s a full buyout, not sure though. Would be great to get the cash

RE: Temple interested in Carey
Interesting. I would be a little surprised if he left now but who knows what his aspirations are. On the pro side it would be more money, a bigger budget and a better conference. On the con side I don't know how well he would handle substantially increased media, fan and donor scrutiny. I think he knows that is not his strong suit. It also appears that he has improved recruiting here substantially starting in 2017 and he may want to see that through. Time will tell of course but it appears that the 2017 through 2019 classes are a lot stronger than those that came before. One of the problems the team dealt with in 2018 was having two weak classes in the pipeline (2014 and 2016, my opinion). Another con is that if he leaves and it doesn't work out his career is basically over at age 50 unless he wants to go back to a coordinator role. I hope he stays but if not I'm sure we'll have good replacement options to choose from.

Temple paid their football coach 2.4mill and their basketball coach 1.2 mill in 2016? Didn’t know they had that kind of coin!

I don't think Rod's career would be over if he failed at Temple. Rod is a very good offensive line coach, he has not been a very good head coach, at least not yet. Winning the MAC with his players was pretty cool but I am still stuck on his inability to recruit, develop or evaluate talent at the QB position. I also cant get over his at times kooky in game decisions.

Who’s your replacement for him?

Definitely an open-ended question at this point.

My chief concern is getting him out the door. If that happens, the rumors will start swirling and once a shortlist is uncovered, I, as well as others will have their favorites.

I’d even commit to season tickets if he’s gone. Who’s the guy(s) that has been yelling “Fire Carey” at games? First round at Fatty’s is on me.
