Our AD doesn't care what we (or the players) think.

Good to know. Didn't carey get our gig because the players wanted him?

Uhh....

After 6 years. Has he even taken an interview until now? I said I hope they didn't lose its luster btw, you homer! Way to pick apart my words.

Dare I say fake news...yuck

Wow, took him a whole 6 years to get a new job. The audacity.

I thought some people said that some of the players were upset that Carey got the job...

From Rod's standpoint this would be a tremendous opportunity. Since the 1980's previous coaches such as Bruce Arians, Al Golden, Steve Addazio, Matt Rhule, Geoff Collins and even Manny Diaz have used this position to go on to bigger and better things.

Yea. When two previous took 2-3 years and went onto P5 gigs. Plus all successful MAC coaches did same.

If he's so great shouldn't he even been considered over the years? Especially when he rode coat tails of a great program his first few years.

I think players that were already playing wanted him (as their starting role would be safe) and those who felt under utilized wanted someone new. This holds true now. I’m sure Childers would want him to stay whereas any of the backups MAY think differently

I am glad that we have signed the recruits before all this happened. Usually you get the shaft in recruiting for a year as new coach hits ground. We have some solid play makers and next coach will be glad.

I don’t know the official rules...can they still leave or are they obligated to stay at least a year?

They signed a LOI, they’re stuck or they have to sit out

That’s great news actually because he has a few playmakers coming in

It's like the stars were aligned. Canada is available, the recruits are signed, and Carey unexpectedly leaves.

Actually, you're right. The timing was pretty good. We filled most of our 2019 recruiting class and they're signed to LOI's.

As for people worrying about current players following Carey to Temple. I wouldn't worry about that. None of our players are from that area and i doubt they want to sit out a year on the chance they might not play. Although Childers should consider transferring, Carey loves him and he'll be a starter at Temple no matter what 05-stirthepot.

There it is.

Carey was no different than any other MAC coach, the first school that offers them more money and he's gone.

If Mr. Chessick was such a staunch supporter of Carey he could have ponied up more money to try to keep him. He instead should pony up the money and make sure NIU gets an up and coming, high-flying offensive minded coach. That side of the football needs a lot of work.

Hopefully, Mr. Chessick is a staunch supporter of Matt Canada...
