Lots of unsold tickets to CFB Championship - Southerners don't travel
Looks like there will be a lot of empty seats Monday Night.

https://www1.ticketmaster.com/college-fo...SPLASH_BUY

File under Southerners do not travel well outside the South

(This should tell anyone that tickets for semi-finals in an 8 team playoff wont sell well off campus)

Alabama has been in the playoffs 5 years running, Clemson 4.

UGA filled Pasadena last year. OU did pretty good.

Budgets and time can only be stretched so far for most people.

Texas turned the Rose Bowl burnt orange twice. TCU's purple matched the Wisconsin red in the Rose.

I for one have no interest in going.

We’ve filled nearly every stadium from Hawaii to Florida.

I’m just not feeling it this year to be honest.

Is Austin/Dallas Deep South?

You can fly as cheap to San Jose from Dallas as you can to Miami or Atlanta, and flight is only an hour longer.

"Southerners don't travel."

He didn't say Deep South. And UGA turned LA red and black last year. That is Deep South.

I seem to recall Alabama filling the Rose Bowl before as well.

They filled it in the 20's when they had to travel by rail.

What they are tired of is getting fleeced for the experience and having their money go to Left Coasters they don't really care to visit.

The South has traveled well to about anywhere. Auburn filled up the Fiesta. But the trip was crappy and the accommodations 45 miles away. Where we come from we call that a piss poor experience, except for the game. Would much rather go to Big D, the Big Easy, or Nashville. Even San Antonio offers a superior experience.

No Stugray, it's not an issue of Southerners not traveling. It's an issue of Southerners enjoying the experience and not having to put up with ******** when we get there.

Bay Area isn't an easy area to travel to from Alabama and South Carolina. No direct flights in those states to the Bay Area. Have to go to Atlanta to have any options to the Bay Area. Nashville only offers to Oakland.

Championship game should always be centrally located or in the southeast. Same issue I have the west region in the NCAA tournament. There are not enough high level programs out west to justify playing the championship game out there, maybe the Rose Bowl every once in a while but other than that site no thanks. College basketball needs to eliminate one of the two western pods most seasons.

There are three eastern power conference in football and a fourth centered in Texas. Four of five G5 leagues are eastern based as well. Outside of a few select games there is no reason to play post season games out west.

Actually Southerners should boycott the game location.

If the game had been in Pasadena, I don't think we would be having this conversation. San Jose is not convenient for Alabama and Clemson fans.

I wonder how many Washington or Stanford fans would show up to a national title game in somewhere like Charlotte?

Or maybe we should say: The 35-40 million people in Cali don't care about Football. Surely with all that population you can fill a stadium.

FIFY. Also:

This is a good analogy because people in Sili Valley care just as much about Alabama and Clemson as people in the Carolinas care about Washington and Stanford.

RE: Lots of unsold tickets to CFB Championship - Southerners don't travel
After the poor showing at the Fiesta, to see fans again not turn out for the NCG is another sign of how poorly southerners travel.

Alabama is closer to California than Wisconsin or Northwestern or Ohio State of Penn State. But look at how they travel to the West, the South and Texas. This is a total BS complaint. Southerners are the worst traveling outside of region. This is one thing that says Texas is not South, their fans travel.

For the West the best comparisons are large public schools like Arizona State, UCLA or Cal. To compare Stanford is like comparing Vandy or Duke. It's just a very small school.

Football is a religion to southerners, so you'd expect them to travel for a Championship. UCF is a commuter school, so no shock they didn't travel. But Alabama is a flagship. No excuses for this.

PAC 12 fans don't even go to their own championship game there on a Friday night. The odds anyone gets into downtown Santa Clara by 5:20 local Monday is pretty slim. San Fran/Oakland/San Jose is also a pro sports town.

Throw in that Alabama and Clemson fans has probably filled the lifetime college football bucket lists over the last five years for Clemson and decade for Alabama and here we are.

LSU sold out their allotment to the Fiesta. So sorry if UCF didn't.

Any national championship on the west coast should be played in the Rose Bowl.

Santa Clara could not be more uninspiring for a national title game, especially factoring in how neither state has direct flights there.
