RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
I think there's some folks who think overall record doesn't mean much for selection.....
but....

the numbers show otherwise….

Only 1 team, 2000 Georgia at 16-14, finished the season worse than 4 games over .500 and still snagged an at large bid.

So for a team like a Butler- that gets really tough. If they lose to Nova they would be 15-14. With 2 games left. Would need to win both of those, and then win 2 in the BET to not be in that category. With at least 1 of those games against either Nova, Marquette, or St John's. Butler has used up all their rope now.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
An ugly bracketology from Lunardi tonight.
Marquette 4S San Jose vs Old Dominion, Nevada/New Mexico St (Duke 1 seed)
Villanova 6W Salt Lake City vs Utah St, Kansas
St John's 12E FF Hartford vs Temple, Maryland, LSU
Seton Hall 12MW FF San Jose vs Arizona St, Florida St, Wisconsin

St John's 4th team in
Seton Hall 3rd team in

Xavier 6th team out
Georgetown 7th team out
Creighton 8th team out

it'll be interesting to see where others have St John's. You want to think it's a smidge low, but realistically now, not sure that it is.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
seed list from bracketville-
14 Marquette
22 Villanova
35 St John's- 13th team in
48 Seton Hall- last team in

69 Georgetown- 1st team out
72 Xavier
73 Providence
76 Creighton
81 Butler

I think St John's probably is somewhere in the middle between this and Lunardi. Probably about 8-9th team in right now I'd guess.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
this is from one man committee- #6 on the bracket matrix standings...
13 Marquette
24 Villanova
38 St John's
48 Seton Hall(last team in)
69 Georgetown(1st team out)
72 Creighton
73 Xavier
75 Providence

I feel like his placement of St John's is right about where I'd put them... Seton Hall and Georgetown in both right on the cut line. Could easily get 3 in but just as easily 5 in.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
I've seen a lot of basketball and I haven't seen a team choke away games the last two games Marquette has. Absolutely horrendous.

They're either fading fast or tank jobbing it for more Big East NCAA inclusion. Either way, pretty weak.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
yeah, Marquette may be a 5 or 6 right now with 1 game left. They lose both that and 1st BET game and they could easily be a 7 seed.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
1 thing that will be interesting to see tomorrow now is will Marquette remain a top 30/thus Q1 opponent for Seton Hall. They were 26th going into tonight and lost by 9 to the #63 team.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
Friday morning update from Lunardi:
Marquette 5 S Hartford vs NC St/Temple, Kansas (Duke 1 seed)
Villanova 7 S Columbus vs Texas, Kentucky
St John's 10 E Des Moines vs Wofford, Michigan St
Seton Hall 11 W Jacksonville vs Buffalo, LSU

SH 3rd with bye
Creighton 3rd out
Butler 8th out

One thing looking at Gassaway is that starting to be fewer bids available. He's pretty pro-P6 conference. He's got only 13 spots available now with of those 13 5 as should be in(Syracuse, Iowa, Ole Miss, Wofford, and VCU). So basically if those 5 are in only 8 spots available with 23 teams battling for those. He's got St John's, Seton Hall, Creighton, Xavier, and Georgetown in that group of 23.

Looks like they're on quite a tear for that spot.

Will the Big East even have a ranked team on Monday? They honestly look like the MAAC, where every team is equally not good.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
Hypothetically speaking here.. but could the Hall get the highest Big East seed this year if we win the tournament???

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
so I think Nova, Marquette and Seton Hall are locks....

St John's I think is only win and in candidate. I think Georgetown needs to make the Final. Creighton needs to make the Final. Providence may if they can beat Butler and then Villanova might have a chance. Xavier probably needs to make the final. DePaul and Butler now only way they make the tourney is if they win the whole thing now.

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
seton hall should be in and higher than 10-12 seed that seems to be where Lunardi keeps them

Yes. Though I think ideally being 6/7 or 10/11 would be ideal. Want to avoid the 8/9 which we had last year..

Well he's not updated since yesterday yet...

Sorry to say, but right now, Seton Hall is probably square on the 9 line....

RE: Updated Seed List/Bracketology
Lunardi just updated-
Villanova 5S Hartford vs Murray St, Purdue
Marquette 6 E Des Moines vs Temple/TCU, LSU
Seton Hall 9 E Columbia vs Washington, Duke
St John's 11 S FF Tulsa vs Arizona St, Maryland, Texas Tech

St John's- 2nd to last team in

Absolutely brutal for Seton Hall. No other way to say that other than that.
Decent pairing for Nova I think. Purdue rd 2 would be really interesting.
Marquette don't necessarily like getting a first 4 team as those teams have done really well in Thu/Fri games. If they can survive that, really would like them against LSU with that sideshow going on.
For St John's- a brutal road. ASU and Maryland rebound really well. And Texas Tech is really tough.
