So Stinespring took a 90% pay cut?!?!?! I would think the landscapers, janitors and dishwashers make more than $35,000, with all due respect to them. I guess we know why we haven't had coaches of this caliber before, and why we likely wont be able to keep them long term.

It's possible that Md owes him money for this year and that money is offset by whatever he earns elsewhere...thus he would accept a minimal offer to coach.

I like that Blackwell is promoting ODU a lot this early.

I think this is absolutely correct.

That's super stand up of Stinespring. In his statements he really wanted to move here for family and home life. So he was like I'm making 300+k already for the year from MD so I'll ride that while we figure things out at ODU. That's pretty cool.

Hope there aren't any chemistry problems with these men. BW is rumored to be a control freak. Don't think that will fly with this group.

I get the impression that he just loves coaching. If he’s already making over 300,000 he certainly not coming to oDU for the money. I would just sit at home and lose out on the extra 35 grand

Will Stinespring be Recruiting Coordinator? I know he held that position for some time at VT but I don't recall anything definitive from the HM or EM articles.

John Allen is still listed as the recruiting coordinator in the staff directory. But one would assume these new coaches would help bring changes to that department.

Stinespring will be great for recruiting. This was his area when he was coaching for JMU and VT. I am just hoping the circle of trust will take into account all the experience these new coaches have between them and make the changes necessary to turn this team around next fall. I am really excited to see how spring ball goes this year.

Sorry, but I don't think so. If the team maintains or shows an improvement this staff stays and gets a vote of confidence from Wood and the Admin. I just don't think it makes sense to bring in these guys and not give them 2 to 3 years.

That’s a big IF, but certainly possible. Assuming these guys signqed 1 year deals, can ODU pony up the money to keep the staff together?
