Carry is normally either a S&W 642 or a G19. Being able to just drop a j frame in a pocket holster in the front pocket is so easy that it’s what gets carried 90% of the time.

Preference for carrying is 9mm. Preference for holstering and range time is a S&W 687 dealer stocking special with a 5.5” bbl or my 6” GP 100. I think I could drag that GP 100 behind the car for 5 miles and it would still wear out the 10 ring.

But then you have to reach in your pocket.

I've gotten used to IWB carry I guess. It's started messing with my sciatic nerve though so I may have to start AIWB carry. I do it already occasionally but can't seem to find a sweet spot yet.

Even though TN just became a permitless carry state I still prefer mine be concealed most of the time.

I have a couple of high end AR's but the first one I bought was a Ruger AR556 for about 600-700 bucks a few years back. It's my workhorse. I installed a binary trigger in it and can empty a 30 rd magazine in about 5 seconds. It's fun as hell but I don't think I want to stress my nice ones that way. It's accurate as can be and very reliable. As long as I keep it reasonably maintained it feeds, fires and ejects right on time. One of my favorite handguns is a Ruger SR1911, accurate as hell. Love me some Ruger.

Speaking of Ruger, after trying every compact striker fire on the planet my wife finally fell in love with the Ruger LC9S. The s model was a huge improvement over the looooong trigger on the LC9. Good little shooter. Wife is small and gets no muzzle flip out of the hotter LEO rounds like the Gold Dots with this one.

Front pocket is definitely slower, I find myself putting my had in my pocket to "pre-draw" so I have the gun in my grip with my hand still in my pocket if I feel sketchy about a situation like someone walking up on me at a gas pump.

It's also hard to get out in the car, so either carry another gun in the center console or draw it and put it where you can reach it.

I opted for a S&W Bodyguard instead for my ankle rig and that loooooong ass pull is the one thing I hate about it. Other than that it's a fine gun.

I guess it's just what you get used to. I'm just pleased you carry. More people need to as long as they are qualified.
