In regulation they had more pts, tho. And considering a pick-6 from all the way on the other end of the field, that puts the UCF pts a little better in perspective.

UCF, aside from bottom-bad Arkansas & Rice -- had the fewest yards (250). Even FCS team got a few more and held LSU to less pts than UCF got -- but to be fair, lots of 3rd string garbage time in the 2nd half to allow that FCS team to do that + throw for 75%. To be fair the other way though, LSU got by far the most penalties ever VS any team -- for 145 yards! UCF got way too many, breaking 100, but as far as UCF's offense was concerned, that helped their deflated team (with backup QB) catch a few flames.

Every other team, including LA-Tech got over 300 yards on them (over 400 for them). To be fair, UCF's completion % wasn't much worse than several other teams. It's many times bad against LSU. And UCF could run the ball above average on them, but that couldn't really help them avoid Oh-so many 3-and-outs.

In the end, UCF performed worse than the score indicated. They allowed LSU to go 50% on 3rd+4th down, gave up 555 yards, and only 2 other teams gave up more pts to LSU in regulation -- all while getting the 3rd to worst amt of yards and a horrible time of possession ratio.

BUT, thankfully, the end-score result doesn't seem to reflect that, so when leafing back thru G5 vs P5 BCS Bowls, it won't stick out so bad.

In the end, the only stats that matter are points scored.

UCF was two plays away from tying the game. We all know two scoring plays can happen with a blink of an eye. Not like the Knights lost 41-15, or could not score a touchdown against LSU...

G5 programs DESERVE ACCESS to the CFP and UCF has proven that each of the last two seasons.

Smaller schools/programs have access to the National Championship Playoff in every other sport, why not football?

Imagine if the NCAA Basketball Tournament was limited to only P5 conferences?

Time to expand the CFP!

I thought it was G5 players that were supposed to get injured against the superior P5 players? Not the other way around.

When you get outgained 555-250 and give up 394 passing yards to a LSU that hasn't had an above average QB since Matt Flynn or Jamarcus Russell, you're lucky the game was close. No one is going to look at this season and say they deserved a shot. They're gong to say this season really only needed a championship game and the rest were going to be sacrificial lambs. Just like anyone following college football thought by mid- October.
