Unlikely the conference championship games are going to go away. There is too much money involved, at least for the P5 conferences.

Quote:I think one of the real struggles that you are seeing right now is that there aren't 12 teams in the country on even close to equal footing/ability to actually win the "big game".

You can say the same thing about other sports. I think right now, with the Alabama/Clemson "domination" the past several years, it seems that #3 & #4 are out of the equation. :) But in reality, in general, it's not quite like that.

With 12 teams, it's an extra week more than 8 teams. But does include all "big Bowl" worthy. Top 4 get a bye instead. I can't argue against your idea of shifting seeds/opponents like NFL does after a 1st round or so, but I Do believe in Home/Away Games until it comes down to Final 4. People aren't going to be traveling from Conf Champ Game -> 1st Round (8) -> 2nd Round (4+4;8) -> Final 4 -> Final Game. Also, just being realistic. The NFL doesn't have "neutral zone" sites, except for the Super Bowl. I say limit the "neutral zone" to just bowls (Final 4 + Nat Champ).

I don't disagree but would also say many of the other championship runs can be tilted by a hot goalie standing on his/her head or a duo just both hitting their shots at the right time. You saw it with Saddi and Rashad against Clemson back when. I think this is a more difficult task in football. There are so many moving pieces that either all have to go right or all have to go wrong to make an unexpected run.

I can get behind that.
