*sigh

All the kids are growing up.

After Slaw hitting (not really) on my 13 YO daughter, I was happy to see him have one of his own. Or if two, even better.

We should get ‘Holic and Co to put together a CaaZone reunion game for the fall. I think the first one was 2004-5, we could make up some kinda dumb reason. 15 yr reunion?

Let everyone actually meet dukeman and decide whether he’s actually the debil or not.

Gotta get purplehazed and bulldog out there too! Could be epic.

This could be GREAT!

Many of you have seen and/or met Purplehazed. I am occasionally in the BFS club room or the Convo hospitality room. Years ago, I was fortunate enough to attend a few football and basketball games as a guest of Uncle Ron. I miss Uncle Ron. RIP.

Often, I am surprisingly close, literally, to CK or Alger at basketball games. Dr. Reardon is usually next to CK. I had Reardon (both of them) as profs so I drop by for a visit once in a while.

A friend I attend games with is close with a here unnamed large donor with the initials of JS that is usually in the seat right of an Alger. We stop by once in a while...

I have backed off but if you guys would like a Dukeman/Purlpehazed vs any two poster team, bring it on04-cheers

Bourne/Alger vs Dukeman/Purplehazed cage match center court halftime show/epic.

All wagers go to the DC. ANYTIME

I would bet large sums that a combo of Cent/Dirty could definitely take Hazed/RobotMan1.

Bob Dole?

I wanna see the rematch of Dukester and Foati in the bungee cord/half court shots match.

Amazing how much fun we could have even while enduring 5 win seasons.

Now? General Malaise...

Those were the days...when we still had hope things would turn around...and you could yell at players from 6 inches away.

And yeah, Slaw has twins and just had a daughter very recently.

Very much off topic, but Jim Boeheim hit a guy driving around midnight last night and the guy is dead...

https://www.syracuse.com/crime/2019/02/s...i-690.html

No alcohol involved reportedly. Tragic.

Just read this.

Awful. Said no speed or alcohol involved, just one of those things I guess.

But, what the heck is 74 YO Boeheim doing driving himself anyway? He doesn’t have a paid car service by this time?!?

sad to hear about Boeheim. Get away from the vehicle in stuck on side of road. Learned that lesson at young age.

Thoughts to the victim's family. Looks like the vehicle was left in the middle of the road (no word on whether it was completely disabled), and the occupants went to the side of the road where they were struck. There are a few questions I have about the situation, but the important thing is to remember a man died and to learn how to avoid it in future situations. Hopefully none of us find ourselves in either part of this situation.

this this this. So many preventable highway deaths because people are in or even NEAR travel lanes. Cars are replaceable. You are not.

shout out to police, fire, emergency responders, AAA, etc anyone with flashing lights on the side of the road. Slow down and move over for these vehicles.

It sounds like the other car was in the middle of the road after hitting a guard rail and Boeheim tried to avoid hitting the car and struck one of the passengers.

Wake me up when we can post consecutive 20 win seasons for the first time in decades and a bad season consists of finishing 2nd or 3rd in this one bid conference.

Other than football and men's soccer (this season), all of our other men's sports consistently fail to hit the mark.

Men's Tennis is off to a good start this year, and Men's Golf won one of the tournaments they played in (though admittedly I know very little about golf, pro or college). But among the more team-based, spectator friendly sports, yeah, basketball and baseball are for sure lagging behind both footballs.

Baseball and basketball are more competitive in terms of the total number of teams in the division. Jmu also has clear facilities advantages in football from the teams they compete with and the rules that are unique to football (D1 transfers don’t have to sit out transferring to D1aa) give them yet another advantage.

RE: Targets for next Head MBB Coach
to date the focus in this thread has been mostly on current up and coming coaches. Here are some recycled names- I'm not big on recycled names but in JMU's case they could be in play. A- it brings some attention to a program that has been irrelevant for a while and B- it may give a much needed bump going into a new arena.

Former Alabama and NC State head coach Mark Gottfried (currently head coach of Cal State Northridge)

Ex Georgetown Coaches
John Thompson III (doing TV for ESPN and also still assisting on US National Team)
Craig Esherick (currently teaches Sports Management at Mason)

Ex George Mason Coach
Paul Hewitt (was surprised that he is only 55)

Ex Oregon State Coach- Craig Robinson (currently works for the NY Knicks)

Ex Old Dominion Coach- Blaine Taylor (current UC Irvine assistant)

Ex Wake Forest Coach- Dino Gaudio (Current assistant for Louisville)

Former GW Coach- Carl Hobbs (current assistant for Rutgers)

Less cache
Former UNCW player and Wright State head coach- Billy Donlan
Former Eastern Kentucky head coach and Seton Hall, Louisville, Minnesota, Iona assistant- Dan McHale

ESPN ex coaches

Would this guy consider leaving to get back into coaching?

Fran Fraschilla
Dan Dakich
Seth Greenberg

too bad these guys are too old:

Pete Gillen
Mike Fratello

Pretty impressive record and I like the age (39) and that he’s from NY.
Also the Hampton coach Joyner has been there for 10 seasons and has a pretty good track record of making the post season (Ncaa and Nit). Both he and Jones could continue to recruit Virginia at Jmu.

Speaking of Hampton would Steve Merfield of Hampton Cinderella fame be interested. He went to Evansville after and struggled but has been an assistant for a successful Creighton program for several years now.
