Elon's new gym
The Schar Center is very nice. The only thing I didn't like is that the upper level seats are pretty far away from the court, they didn't make the upper level tiered over the lower level seats as most of the pro gyms are now. Good layout for restrooms and concessions.
Elon went from having one of the worst gyms in the CAA to one of the better ones.
Free parking around the gym, which is on the edge of campus, so access is better than it was for the old gym.
Very odd game between Elon and JMU yesterday. I was sitting right behind the JMU bench and all the first half charge calls were at the other end, so I couldn't really argue with the refs, but I have never seen so many charges and push off calls made in a game. JMU had 7 fouls 5 minutes into the first half.
There were stretches in the first half when JMU had a lineup of 5 players on the court all with at least 2 fouls. I think they even had a walk on playing a significant stretch of the first half. Because of silly technical, Stuckey Mosley had 4 fouls at the half.
In the second half when both teams realized you couldn't use your forearm to get separation from the defender without getting whistled for it, the refs started calling fouls on the defensive players who were hanging all over the dribbler.
JMU may set some kind of record for shot clock violations this year.
Painful game to watch.

RE: Elon's new gym
I noticed a lot of JMU players using forearm pushoffs during our game Friday night. Guess the refs decided to enforce the rule on Sunday.
