Parts of Florida, Kentucky, and Indiana are in the CTZ. Part of FSU's DMA reach goes into the CTZ in Southern Alabama. ND is the same with Gary/Chicago.

All schools currently in the ACC including Notre Dame are located in the ETZ.

And parts of the States of Florida, Indiana, and Kentucky are currently located in the CTZ.

It does not matter. What does matter is that all of the schools are in the ETZ, which means that all of the start times are uniform. And maybe more importantly the games end on the same schedule. A 9 pm basketball start in Chicago (CTZ) would put State back in Raleigh an hour later than if the game was a 9 pm start in South Bend (ETZ).
Same time zone means easier scheduling for TV and less adjustment for players.

I agree with Lance about the campuses being in the ETZ, and the importance of that fact... but if the ACC truly had the opportunity to grab Purdue and Northwestern those would be automatic, right? I mean, maybe even more so than if Maryland and South Carolina wanted to come back (look out for low-flying pigs!!!)

So you are suggesting that players in the Big 10, SEC, and P12 are suffering due to a one hour time change? I didn't know 18-22 year olds suffered from such things.

If being one time zone east is such an issue - how do Arizona, ASU, Utah, and Colorado deal with that in the P12, or Florida, Georgia, SC, Kentucky, and Tennessee in the SEC, or MD, Rutgers, PSU, OSU, UM, MSU, Purdue, and Indiana in the B10?

Clearly the Pac-12 tv ratings are hurt by playing in the Pacific Time Zone. As entertaining as those games appear to be, few on the East Coast stay up to watch "Pac-12 After Dark".

Obviously one hour time zone difference doesn't matter nearly as much, if at all. However, I do think TRAVEL distance matters - and having flown hundreds of thousands of miles in my lifetime I can say that East-West travel is much harder on the body than North-South, even if the distance is the same... that time lag takes a toll.

I can vouch for this. I spent a few days out in Vegas back in September. I woke up at 4:30 Vegas time every morning. By 3:00 Vegas time, I wanted to use toothpicks to hold my eyelids open. Ive flown all over the east coast and midwest but that Vegas trip had me beat. I didn't even want to see the attractions in Vegas because I was always so tired.

I was the reverse. I was wide awake for Vegas, but when I travelled back I was off-schedule for over a week.

Cheers,

Nothing has changed for ND. They have proven they can get in the CFP. If the CFP expands to 6 or 8, there are still at-large spots.

Notre Dame took Ohio State's spot in the playoff because ND would have had their ass whipped in Charlotte. That does not bother me.

It's not 3 games. Right now the ACC gets an average of 2.5 ND FB games at ACC sites per year. If ND joins, that goes to 4 games every year. I can't see a scenario where ND keeps their contract with NBC so you also get an average of 6.5 games at ND. Adding ND for 10-11 games per year should be a significant boost to the media contract.
