InsideTheU has learned through multiple sources that Richt informed school officials on Sunday that he plans to retire. UM shortly after confirmed the news through a statement.

Awfully late in the cycle to get started hiring. Sounds like "retirement" was like it was in Paul Johnson's case: the pitchforks are building on the horizon, and you don't have answers.

Richt has nothing to prove. He has done enough to get in the CFB HoF. He has all the money he needs. Wouldn't surprise me to see him test the waters as a TV analyst.

Coincidentally there's a new 24/7 sports network about to launch next August...

Who could be next in line as the Hurricanes’ head football coach? Some possibilities...

https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/colle...40140.html

Mario Cristobal, Oregon head coach

Butch Davis, FIU head coach

Manny Diaz, Temple head coach

Greg Schiano, Ohio State defensive coordinator

Dino Babers, Syracuse head coach

Mike Norvell, Memphis head coach

Josh Heupel, UCF football coach

Rex Ryan

Kliff Kingsbury, Southern California offensive coordinator

Mike Leach, Washington State head coach

Neal Brown, Troy head coach

Lane Kiffin, FAU head coach

They listed everybody but Charlie Strong. I hope Mike Leach gets the job. His high flying offense would do great in Miami plus he's a quote machine.

Agreed - I would love to have Mike Leach coaching in the ACC... just not at Virginia Tech!
