Richt Retires
I just saw that Mark Richt has retired at Miami. Is this voluntary? I can’t believe this is in the U’s best interests either way.

Quite likely. He also might have thought he had escaped the shadow of Alabama when he left Georgia, but then found Bama's ACC twin.

Wow. I didn't see that coming.

Manny Diaz prolly didn't either. He woulda been in prime position to take over there, instead of in Philly at Temple.

Who's on the short list?

This is a bad time to be hiring as so many other teams have already found their replacements drying up the talent pool.

I'd like to think the Troy and North Texas coaches would be on the top of their list. The problem with taking either Cincinnati or Memphis's coach is that they've only been head coaching 2 and 3 years respectively.

Those 2 would be great candidates but I would through Strong in there at the top. This is surprising news!

I think Charlie would be a great choice. The only problem is he's coming off a 6 game losing streak which is not a ringing endorsement for a P5 job.

Agreed. While it would be foul, would Diaz eschew the Temple job if offered the HC at Miami?

Other possible candidates: Mario Cristobal (Oregon) and Charlie Strong (USF)?
