How quickly do the higher ups at Miami contact Josh Huepel?

Miami's next HC will be one of (in no particular order):

1. Cristobal
2. Diaz
3. Heupel
4. Butch
5. Kiffin

Cristobal is not leaving Oregon, he's beloved there and has a great recruiting class coming in and his stud quarterback is returning for senior season. Diaz just took the job at temple and if he quit before he even started he would burn every coaching bridge there is to literally burn. My guess is Huepel gets the gig.

I agree and the offer comes after UCF's bowl.

I doubt Huepel leaves especially after how Frost ended up in Nebraska. With UCF it might just be the team and not the coach.

Diaz could leave Temple for Miami don’t believe it would hurt his reputation except in Philly. Have to think he knew this was coming though. Temple will be great training for him as a HC and despite the bowl debacle our roster is good for the next few years.

Well, at some point it has to be the coach, b/c he does the recruiting, lol.

Heupel is not a UCF lifer, but we don't know yet if his success at UCF is due to him, or due to inheriting Frost's squad

Heupel's buyout is $10M, in addition to the $3M-$5M in salary they would need to pay. There are cheaper and less risky options out there.

That $10 million buyout is steep for a first year coach. I think he is safe.

Huepel not going anywhere till after year 3, the buyout is way too high unless its for top 5 job which can afford 10M buyout.

This. Miami ain't paying $10 million for a first year head coach. Much safer bets.

That saying, if they do, I have 100% faith in our AD to again make the right hire.

At some point, Brent Venables or Tony Elliot have to be seriously considered for a HC opening. However, I don’t think that it will be at Miami.

My hunch is that they will go after Greg Schiano.
