RE: Just as everyone suspected...The CFP committee is corrupt.
UCF's 2nd string QB faced an almost entirely 2nd string LSU defense, and the better team won. End of story.

The QB is a bigger detail than the defense. LSU’s 2nd string is better than many teams’ first string. The QB just wasnt consistent or experienced enough for the task. He missed many throws, held the ball too long, etc.

Some of you are looking at this as G5 vs P5 but if you are the 8th ranked team in the nation the 11th ranked team's 2nds shouldn't be better than first string. No matter if its LSU. If that's the case then why are some of you complaining about UCF not being in the playoffs? It's very clear if P5's second string is better, then over the course of a season, playing a SEC schedule UCF, would have gotten beat down and beat a few times.

Cant argue it both ways...you either good enough or not. It's UCF's fault they didn't get this qb more reps during the season or had a backup ready to play. But if you are good enough to put up almost 700 yards in the conference championship game, then it shouldn't be that big of a drop off.

Besides it was LSU destroying the UCF OL and running game that made the difference in this game as far as UCF's offense

BINGO! I agree with you 100%. But we have some REALLY STUPID people on this thread. Most of them have no clue what they are talking about. LSU's 2nd string DEFENSE could start on almost anybody's team. LSU has had 2nd stringers get drafted into the NFL.

...I guess you missed the part about LSU's 2nd String defense being better than probably 90% of the defenses in America. END OF STORY.

......Sure you can. Anybody with any integrity (not sure if that includes you or not. Sounds like you just have an axe to grind) will agree that you're probably much BETTER with your starting QB.

Talk about stupid...

means nothing about this year.

Only a 100% idiot would think the 11th ranked teams 2nd string defense should be better than a 8th ranked 1st team. If so they dont belong being ranked 8th...

So what you are saying is that a qb that's probably a very late round pickup (at best) and most likely wont make a team is better than all those LSU NFL first and 2nd stringers?

Either he is or your argument is silly and it doesn't address the UCF OL and running game being dominated....hey dummy, as good as the UCF qb is. Its the running game that makes UCF go. LSU mistakes was the only reason UCF stayed in this game.

......Sure you can. Anybody with any integrity (not sure if that includes you or not. Sounds like you just have an axe to grind) will agree that you're probably much BETTER with your starting QB.

What's funny is that you're actually the one with the axe to grind, as the very premise behind this thread is that the evil empire keeps the UCF's of the world out of national championship tournaments. And yet, in your own words, the LSU's of the world have 2nd stringers that are as good or better. I'm not gonna resort to name-calling as you routinely do on here anytime someone dare have a different opinion than you, but you're literally on both sides of the argument and are making no sense. Aside from that, you're also trying to lecture people about integrity while calling them names.

I understand very well how important the QB position is (I just need look at UTSA), but that's still one guy, while LSU was missing nearly their entire starting defense. And if those backups that LSU has are still better than UCF's, well that just underscores that the better team won, as I said in my first post on here. It also underscores how thin even the best G5's are. Think about Ohio State just 3 or 4 years ago, who won a national championship despite losing their Heisman candidate starting QB late in the season. For the best, it's next-man-up. For the rest, it's lose one key starter and you'll find yourself in the loss column even when you're facing a team missing almost their entire starting defense.

Whether or not UCF could've beaten LSU with both teams at full strength is speculation at best. Heck, we could turn the tables and ask what might've happened if LSU were missing their starting QB, and they were facing a UCF team without 8 or 9 starters on defense. I'd say that LSU would've likely won given that scenario also. But that's also speculation, and the bottom line here is that both squads were wounded and LSU came out on top. So how about we stop crying about it and get over it.

Good Post.

I dislike LSU as much as anyone, but clearly LSU was the better team and UCF is not #8th in the nation.

Not only LSU defense but what about UCF defense? Allowing almost 600 yards and the most TD’s thrown this year from a lackluster LSU offense.

UCF is a borderline top 25 team, that’s all.

Thanks, and agree on UCF being top 25 at best. Like I said on a different thread, winning 90% or even 100% of your games against a G5 schedule impresses other G5. It doesn't impress P5. Winning 90% of your games against P5 impresses P5, and no G5 even approaches that, not even Boise State whose 60% winning percentage against P5 over the last 15 years stands head-and-shoulders above any other G5 program. And before anyone goes there, I'm talking about more than just 2 or 3 games against P5 competition.

There will always be a G5 or two who'll make a bit of noise every year, but their true strength as a team is an illusion because they're thin compared to the nation's true best, and once they lose a couple key players, they falter.
