I’ll be surprised if we have more than 3 G5 versus P5 matchups after realignment of bowl games unfortunately.

Even though March Madness heavily favors the P5 in bids and seeds, there is still the opportunity for a mid-major to make significant noise. And the rooting for an underdog is what makes the first two weekends of the NCAAs special for me.
College football has basically eliminated that potentially fan-inspiring element from the national championship hunt, which is a shame. Sucky bowl games and worse national championship semifinal games are the result. Enjoy your just rewards, P5 scum.

Is there a reason (aside from money) that the P5/G5 split exists? I know FCS/FBS is due to scholarship numbers, but literally no other college sport has a split like this within D1.

ESPN.
There is immense pressure to streamline what we call D1 into four mega conferences. SEC, ACC, Big 10 and PAC 10.
The Big 12 will cease to exist in the next ten years.
American, CUSA, Mountain West, Sun Belt, MAC and Big 12 remnants that don’t make this next wave will all be in some kind of purgatory.
We will get less and less access as time goes on.

I think we'll eventually be classified as D-II, and the FCS division will become D-III, and so on down the line of the current divisions that exist. This has been the plan from the very moment the P5 entity was created.
We'll likely have a D-II playoff/bowl system that'll include the five bowl champions and three at large teams every year. That could be fun, but in the long run, being dropped to a lower classification will not be good for any of us.

The P5 conferences should just get to 13 schools each, that way they can play the other 12 and not have to schedule any OOC games. In hoops they can play 24 conference games and then add 4 OOCs, against each other. Never, ever have to "soil" themselves playing down.

If they do that then the have nots fans at the bottom of their P5 conferences better get used to a lot of losing seasons. This will also impact attendance for them.

RE: C-USA Finishes with Best G5 Bowl Win % Again This Season
Guys you are missing something here. There are a lot of G5 programs that have invested a ton into remaining in the FBS. If something was ever forced upon those programs, you will see legal issues pop up left and right. This is the fault of the NCAA for not doing its job. Regardless, the P5 doesnt really want all that and they know it. I hope they try it. Remember when the G5 banded together under the BCS system for inclusion? The legal issues Tulane threatened? What was the outcome of all that? In all regards the G5 probably already has grounds to get it started again with the playoff bs, but I assume we are waiting it out to see how it all readjust with an expanded playoff. Some states do not have a P5, how do you think those are going to take any kind of separation. Right off the top of my head you have Nevada, NM, Wyoming, Idaho, these are states with FBS schools but no P5s.....

I agree with Beefcake 0520. You can add Maine, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, both Dakotas, etc. Let's not forget even in Ohio, where the Buckeyes are self-proclaimed royalty, there are about 6 other FBS schools who are ignored in the FBS bologny as non-cartel schools. Other states where the Non-cartel FBS schools outnumber the Elitist Snobs includes Louisiana, Florida, and Alabama. There will be a legal war inside and outside the NCAA if the Cartel tries to exclude the Non-Cartels from competing.

C-USA Finishes with Best G5 Bowl Win % Again This Season
(12-30-2018 12:10 AM)DogsWin1 Wrote: C-USA's 4-2 bowl performance was the best winning percentage of all G5 conferences again. The AAC has two more games remaining but cannot overtake C-USA (or even reach .500 wins).
Conf. W L Win % Remaining Champ Game
ACC 5 - 2 71% 3 1
C-USA 4 - 2 67%
MWC 3 - 2 60%
SBC 3 2 - 60%
SEC 3 2 - 60% 6 1
Big10 2 - 2 50% 5
Big12 2 - 3 40% 2
AAC 1 - 4 20% 2
PAC12 1 - 2 33% 4
MAC 1 - 5 17%
Indep 2 - 1 67%
So with the acc getting slammed today that should but us on top of the heap. ¿Correctamundo?
ETA: yup, I checked and as of this writing we lead them all with our 4-2.
Still with games to play are:
ACC 5-4
SEC 3-2
P12 3-2
B1G 2-3
B12 2-3

Big Ten needs to lose one of its three today. If the Big Ten sweeps it would hold the most wins tiebreaker over C-USA with a 6-3 record.
SEC at 4-3 has five games left including next Monday in Santa Clara. Must lose two to not finish 8-4 or better. 8-4 would also beat C-USA's record through the most wins tiebreaker.

LSU already down 14-3, to UCF with 6:39 still left in 1st qtr. Even worse, UCF looks much faster than LSU.

App State has already lost Satterfield. If Brown gets poached by West Virginia (which I believe he will), and the new coaches struggle at Troy and App State, then Arkansas State will probably be the only respectable program left in the Belt. The rest of the conference has struggled to win over the last few seasons. The Sun Belt could have some lean years ahead.

Penn St and Miss St both lost today. So we just need Texas to upset Georgia tonight and C-USA will finish with the best bowl winning % of all FBS conferences.

Well.... Texas just beat an over-rated Georgia team in the Sugar Bowl. Does that mean CUSA wins the "Bowl Cup"??

It's official since C-USA is the only conference to win more than 60% of its bowl games.
