dude, he is on the hot seat at WVA....I wouldn't celebrate that hire at all

Dude is a really good coach. He just hated it at WV and didn’t give it 100%. Coaching in the G5 is a very different story than coaching in the P5.

Of so, it is a fatal flaw for a professional making millions of dollars.

Eh... I can name hundreds of examples were a player or coach making millions didn’t give it 100% because he wasn’t happy with the situation they were in.

The quest for success is internally driven. Highly paid professionals (especially in their prime) unwilling or unable to try their best despite trying circumstances is a red flag, IMO.

KLIFF?? lol

Dana and Kliff are both dead-end hires....terrible choices. TERRIBLE.

Again, for a program on UH's level, your best shot is an up and coming G4 head coach from the MAC etc. or get an OC/DC from a big time program. UH isn't on the level where it is going to hire good, legit P5 coaches from other P5 schools.

I don’t buy the Leach rumors. Sounds like they have decided to move on whether a big splash hire is available or not.

There records were almost the same; Holgorson won in the big 12, not sunbelt or cusa and was in West frickin Virginia playing games 1000 plus miles away. I don’t think they are even close!

RE: Report: Major Applewhite done at Houston
In a way it's good to know that UH has a high standard. Even though it's early and only 2 years I've seen schools do the exact opposite.
its good for the conference that at least one of our schools refuses to do that.
on the other hand it's 2 years?

But applewhite was clearly over his head and i guess they are just going to cut sling load. 2 horrible hires on the coordinator side and he's expected to hire 2 more. That was his downfall. he had no idea on picking someone to assist him with the program.

now that the news is out i doubt anyone would want to give up their stable job (good coordinator) to leave and play for applewhite knowing he only has 1 year left to meet expectations. and if he doesn't then him and his entire staff are out looking for work. now if i was a DC/OC and was approached by applewhite i would defiantly say no.

wvu is currently ranked #13 in the nation

Failed is probably a little extreme for Dana, but lets not act like they're going to be anywhere near #13 in the final AP poll. They went 8-5 with a legit Heisman candidate. I think WVU fans will be happy to dump him onto us. And again while I do believe he'd be an upgrade over Applewhite, I'm just not sure thats a great look.

The fact that you hate this possible hire so much, just in fact means its a great hire and you’re scared.

My point is money doesn’t always motivate a person to be successful. I myself have had jobs that i got paid alot of money but i hated the job so much it was impossyto motivate myself to give 100%

Jealous. I think that's the word you're searching for. Jealous. That's the usual explanation, anyways...

So, yeah... We're just JEALOUS that y'all have the possibility of hiring Dana Holgerson or Kliff Kingsbury. <<<snicker>>>

You should be. Someone that is guaranteed to consistently win 8 games at a bottom feeder P5 school, and consistently have them in the top 15 is always a home run hire. Not even tommy tubberville ever pulled that off.

People act like WV is a great school but without dana they would be Wake Forrest/Vanderbilt level bad.

Except tommy tubber was consistently a bad coach and unlike holgerson never consistently produced top 15 seasons.

west virginia is located in west virginia for anyone who is confused..
100% of the big12 are in power recruiting bases..except west virginia ..even in the kansas school are located in powerhouse juco world...

wvu in recruiting base by far the worst in the big 12, and wvu budget is the smallest in the big 12
wvu has finished top 3 twice in the last 3 years

..houston is arguably the best recruting base in the AAC....
..Houston has a top 3 budget in the AAC..
