It's not going to get better next year.

Why so negative? I thought the complaint was Lester hired a bunch of friends he’d never fire and who weren’t fit to gaze upon the likeness of Dwight Waldo.

Yep, like RG said, one of the ongoing criticisms of Lester was that he'd be too afraid to boot assistants (oddly enough the same criticism Dantonio is getting). Hate to see people lose their jobs especially around the holidays, but if Lester's cleaning some house, it at least shows some urgency on his part to fix things.

7-6 record aside, there were just too many blowout losses this season that were over by halftime (or in BYU's case, a quick meltdown in the third quarter). Too many cases where it appeared we didn't belong on the same field as our opponent.

So you thought Aiken and Sanchez were an issue? He already took care of Daoust which we all think was good move. So he proved he can move on. I think continuity is huge, as much as we can keep continuity, we should.

Here is what I would have done. I would have wasted no time making Duggan the defensive coordinator. Kept Lou, D line only. Kept Sanchez. Hired a new LB coach. Not replaced Malone, instead hire a dedicated special teams guy. Evans takes over RB's and Lester QB's, which he pretty much does anyway.

The point of the firings is to get better correct? And they should be better, significantly. That should be our expectation. Their roster is one of, if not the best in MAC. Senior QB with a backup who has experience now. A ton of returning starters and backups with experience. A bunch of newcomers with talent.

Let's see if that happens. And let's see what the excuses are when it doesn't.

I'm not sure how you derived at this. In 2011 and 2012, opponents scored 40+ points twice in each season. That happened six times in 2018 alone (would've been seven if Miami hit the game ending FG).

Point total is not the only thing I judge the defense on. Our special teams (and even offense more than previous years) put our defense in bad situations all year long.

I think it is quite possible that Lester told his defensive coaches that they should look for other jobs. If so, I give him kudos for taking such action. The other possibility is that coaches felt like they are on a sinking ship and are bailing before it's too late. I think this is less likely, as I doubt it would be going down like it is, and at least a couple were obviously let go by Lester.

We needed a major shakeup on D. I would like Esposito to be gone too. I don't see anything that suggests he is particularly good at his job, and I certainly don't think he should be DC.

Espo's redeeming quality is that he is a very good recruiter. Very likeable guy.

And his accent. I could listen to him for hours.
