He’s a freshman. Tonight was the first time we really saw his shot light the place up. While he was on, didn’t seem to be comfortable being the guy taking shots. For that reason he stuttered there and traveled.

Kid still had a double double with 14 assists. 14.

What we really lack are guards and forwards that can drive the ball into the paint. We have Cacok and a bunch of shooters. Our offense is too easy for other teams to stop. Especially when a guard goes into the paint and tries to dribble behind his back. Smh. Just dumb plays like that. Silly silly turnovers that you see in pickup or rec league ball that we shouldn’t be seeing from this level of basketball.

I agree. This isnt the 1st game he has shown that lack of understanding. He is a tremendous talent and as CG said he is a true freshman, so hopefully he can find that next gear

Fornes can be that guy if he rips thru and gets downhill. Heck, he should perfect his runner too and we would be there regarding driving it. Yes, we do have shooters and missed some open looks in the first half.

It was good to see Kai shoot the ball well and he does have good presentation like many of our shooters. He could have easily had 20 points tonight. Estime and Sims will get plenty of points on most nights with their shooting but it wasn't there for them tonight. At least Sims didn't force it and I thought played well. Good to see Taylor get going. He's too good a scorer to not get going.

Cacok needed Alex and myself to get on him about his play! Wow! He was awesome tonight.

Hawks showed that they are close to being there tonight. They were right there against a good team that has 2 tremendous players. Galloway hurt UNCW tonight. We knew that Riller would go off and their excellent big man but that one other guy gave them just enough. And, they shot a ton more FT's due to them being aggressive off the bounce when we lacked that aspect.

One more note is that if a healthy Ty Gadsden was available, Riller would likely have had a lot tougher time getting his shot off because Ty is so quick and is our best defender on the perimeter. I really hope that he can get back in the mix at some point but that may be 2 or 3 more weeks-no need to rush it and hurt it again. Taylor has shown that he can defend well at times and has the quicks too so that may be an option also. It looked like Fornes had that assignment at least at times or maybe I was missing something.

The zone actually worked tonight and that is something to continue to throw in there. The Cougars didn't look as comfortable against it and we got some stops. Overall, a better defensive effort but the ball pressure still needs work with the guys that we have.
