New Era Pinstripe Bowl: Miami vs Wisconsin
First matchup of P5 heavyweights who had down years. How will the Canes handle the cold?

Miami passing out more turnovers than a pastry chef.
Richt must think more highly of the Pinstripe Bowl than everybody else because he's in his patented big game choke mode.

Wisconsin crushes Miami 35-3, rubbing it in with a last second TD.
ACC now 2-0 vs AAC in bowls, 0-2 vs B1G.

Same old Richt. Georgia sure isn't pining for him. I think it's safe to say once again, Da U ain't back. They may not even be in the vicinity.

I wonder if Miami ever considered giving the turnover chain to Wisconsin?

Miami will always have a place at the big kids table but they will never be a blue blood. Too inconsistent. They had a spectacular 20-year stretch that included some of the best teams and players in college football history (5 national titles and 2 Heismans in that stretch) but they’ve been essentially irrelevant otherwise.

Although Miami would always be looking to market themselves in the greater New York area, that bowl has always struck me as more suitable for the more northerly contingent of ACC schools ... it's one of the few bowls that a team that is built to be successful in chillier weather can turn that to their advantage.

Richt is personally responsible for the horrible offense. The one thing Miami had was defense, but they let Diaz go...

The bowl was basically invented for that purpose. It was original a tie-in for the Big East and one of Rutgers or Syracuse went to the first four bowls. This year was probably the first time the bowl didn't get it right with a team from the Northeast, as other years the bowl has showcased Penn State, Pitt and BC (Duke played one year but since a lot of their alums live in the Northeast it makes some sense).

It wasn't really a rub it in play.
It was giving a TD to a 5th year senior playing his last game who's had injury issues his whole career and was a total team player.
Some people's rubbing it in is another's proper send off.

Notre Dame in 2013 was an excellent addition for them as well, considering their NYC-based alumni. Their game against Rutgers had 47k.

It was rubbing it in, unsportsmanlike. I don't really care much as I don't like Miami, but that's what it was. That 5th year senior should have been mature enough to decline the offer of a TD as it was obviously an unsportsmanlike situation to do that.

We'll agree to disagree on this one.
Then again, today's sports attitude, doctrine, zeitgeist, what have you is all about "hey look at me" and "let's get on sports center".
That very school's "turnover chain" is a prime example. Hard to practice sportsmanship when the flavor of the month is "in your face".

"5th year Senior" doesn't mean he's been a Senior for five years, it means he's in his second senior year, which is to say, in his early twenties.
If I hear tell of a young man of that age acting with that kind of maturity, I would be pleasantly surprised ... it certainly is not what I would expect.

I think basic sportsmanship, like not running up the score, is taught very early to football players, it's not a foreign concept especially not to college-level players and coaches.
Like I said, I don't like Miami's in your face flashiness, but that was *obviously* an unsportsmanlike TD. You take a knee in that situation, always.
