Illini Tire
Anyone have any news on what will replace Illini tire? A bar/restaurant would be fitting. Heck I would love to see a brewery.

I think a brewery would actually do pretty decent and they wouldn’t have to completely rely on the restaurant portion if they distribute beer already and produce there.

Baby steps. Get them in the town and then twist their arms about the Convocation center.

Only a Dekalb and a NIU could ignore what is probably the most prime piece of local real estate to recently come on the market.

NIU - BUY THIS PROPERTY AND PUT SOMETHING HUSKIE ON IT.

Out of curiosity, what do you envision that could be?

This is NIU. The buildings from the 60s and 70s look like a they asked architects if they had an old building designs on the scrap heap. the campus is like a collage.

Okay.... so, a sign with a bridge that leads to CVS...

That isn't even on campus. Sounds like a wise use of funds.

Then a Chase Bank it is. 03-lmfao

The university is 124 years old. That CVS will be gone in 20 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm sure Zulaaf Hall was like a work of art at some point, when it was first built.

By the Egyptians.

Cool. And then another bridge over Annie Glidden leading to the "Jerry Springer Apartment Building". COGSCOGSCOGS

I heard they have had a lot of problems trying to develop that corner. The City of DeKalb has been strong armed by a NIU and some select fans and have already rejected offers from the following brands:

Buffalo Wild Wings
Bobcat Equipment
Red Hawk Bar and Grill
Kent Corporation
Falken Tires
Rocket Mortgage
Bronco Packaging
Eagle Foods
Cardinal Liquors
Chippewa Boots
Zipz Ice Cream

Although I did hear a rumor that this bar was looking to expand, thought that corner might have some nostalgia for them....

I also heard Red Bird Spirits was trying to get in there too.

Ever take the Zulaaf elevator to visit a professor? You'll miss at least 3 classes during the ride up.

To me the brewery would be a great idea. It would be a great place to go pre and post football games. It could have some sort of huskie name or theme to it. The college kids would enjoy it and who doesn’t like fresh beer? Look at Chicago.....there’s over 100 in the area and most in the nation. If that many can survive there then one in Dekalb would thrive. Wouldn’t be much competition in Dekalb area.
