Apparently is no longer covering EMU or CMU
The sad part is that nobody will notice the difference

RE: M Dead
Let's be real here, MLive has not covered emu in at least 10 years. Just a few token articles here and there. They are also obviously guilty of reporting without attending the games thanks to ESPN3 and EMU putting the press conferences on Youtube.
Amazing how many people out there think of MLive as being a real newspaper. Basically it's just a Blog.

MLive still has reporters?
I remember half their articles being rehashed from Freep articles anyway. I don't live nearby but I honestly thought that site was a blog now.

RE: M Dead
Was this some kind of announcement? MLive did several articles on EMU around the bowl and signing period. This article just came out a few days ago: https://www.mlive.com/expo/sports/erry-2...lly-s.html
But as others have said, not exactly like they had substantive coverage previously...

I remember one time they ran an article on the outcome of the second contest of the season with a conference opponent, but the content was a summary from the first match up.

RE: M Dead
MLive is based in Grand Rapids and does indeed favor the west side of the state. When they closed the Ann Arbor News operation in 2009. the company culture totally changed. They could no longer afford the salaries of Larcom, Knight, Cnockeart, Carty, Hueser, Whitesall, Ryan, Rezler, Holzman, Warns and other competent journalists, who are, bye the way great people as well. The sports department is populated by a fraction of the people it once had and those there are paid fractionally as well.
MLive measures interest based on internet clicks and obviously U-M dominates our area and WMU is interesting based on its proximity to the MLive headquarters. In the EMU football survey I urged them to create a blog spot where a true EMU fan could receive actual news about the program. Depending on MLive is indeed a dead proposition like James said.

MLive destroyed a lot of good local newspapers in Michigan. From a glass-half-full perspective, there's good opportunity in this state for good local news coverage. Not just sports, but all news.

Did not know Wickersham was Talons...makes sense. He was a jerk on MLive and he continues to be one.

He’ll deny it of course, but the writing style and tone are the same.

Michael Niziolek was our beat writer in 2014, but he left to cover Clemson after only a year. Kenneth Bailey is still keeping the torch alive over at hustlebelt ( http://www.hustlebelt.com/emu-eagles) and I'm sure he'd welcome some writing help to go along with his game photos. I think if we want consistent coverage of EMU sports we're going to have to do it ourselves.

MLive was a wild and woolly place. I think everyone enjoys CSNBBS a lot more.

Carter and Jeremy. I know Carter posted here briefly, but I'm not sure if Jeremy ever did.
They were great, though. I miss Eagle Totem.

RE: M Dead
I'm guessing MLive would allow a qualified writer to cover EMU. Might be a good opportunity for a young writer wanting to build his/Her resume'. Might have to do it for free though.
