This could be a very bad trend for the MAC. Neil from Ball State is also transferring. The best MAC teams tend to be the ones with good senior QBs. Now we have to hope we can hold on to senior QBs.

Transferring is a way of Division One life and no one should be surprised at this in the least.

Transferring happens a lot but losing a senior QB that has been actually starting every game, doesn't seem to have happened in the past.

He’s a grad transfer and is losing his top WR. Not surprised that he will want more exposure in a better system.

I always thought the backup was better.

Very short sited move. Many Quarterbacks have gotten great exposure coming out of the MAC. Scouts find QB’s, the school you play for doesn’t matter as much for that position. If your great they will find you. Period. So dumb.

Agreed. Even at the fcs level with eastern illinois / ndsu

Kinda makes you think it’s a bad idea for MAC schools to use redshirts, because that extra year you’re buying is just helping some P5 program.

It’s so dumb to do if you’re a QB. You have to lost a whole new system on the fly. No guarantee that you will start.

Depends on where he ends up. Buffalo’s schedule is really going to give him much exposure. A move to a bigger program could lead to better exposure and better pick in the draft. They play Robert Morris, at Penn State, at Liberty, and temple. Not really loaded before playing a MAC schedule. I don’t like that players jump from team to team but that’s the way it is now. The players see it as a business decision. He’s graduated so he’s earned the right to make the choice.

Many 18 year olds are not physically ready or able to compete against 22 and 23 year old men with 4-5 years in a college weight training program without getting injured.

Seems unlikely he will do better at a different school. He doesn't even know if he will start.

It would be a shame if someone lured Childers away from NIU. Carey would have to play a different QB.

Get used to this in the future as the norm. As soon as the P5 pull further away from the NCAA and create their 60 team nirvana, all other leagues will simply be minor leagues for them. They will take players on at will with no silly transfer rules to imped them.

2 bowl teams. What should an OOC schedule look like?

And then you'd complain about that qb. Let's continue to hope they all (qbs) improve over the next 9 months.

I don’t think getting routed by Penn St and playing Temple are going to be enough of a showcase for someone that wants to be a qb at the next level. Robert Morris and Liberty? Not exactly considered high profile. Then facing the MAC doesn’t do him any favors. My point is that depending on where he goes, he can get much more exposure and elevate his draft stock.

If Wentz can go #2 in the draft Jackson could have stayed and did fine for himself and Buffalo.
