You aren't that dumb. But, most here fall for your schtick and will probably fall for this one too. I'd rate you about a 7.5 out of 10 on the troll scale. Not bad, but this is a small and somewhat easily worked up crowd because the few that do frequent this site are pretty passionate about a team/school that is a perennial little brother.

Not saying its likely, but would not surprise me in the least.

I almost wondered from this article, could it be Monty has been told he is not coming back and is trying to get back in as an assistant at MSU?

Imagine if this was Rod instead of Monty. At least I believe Rod is happy to be at NIU. I believe he is proud to be a Huskie. Maybe Monty is proud too but I doubt it. Perception has become reality.

Wowser...the very first quote in the story from Monty is "I don't regret leaving". You all love to read into things and completely ignore what's right out in the open.

The writer is writing a story on how it's tough to leave a big, successful program like MSU and go out on your own somewhere like the MAC, that's the whole idea behind it.

I just listened to Monty on pre game show and he was all about NIU competing today. Said were here might as well win. My guess is he would have no idea people have a problem with his interview.

amazing, with how fun our offense is, how painful it is to watch this team just because of perimeter defense...so painful

To be fair, you're also reading into his words what you want them to be. "I don't regret leaving" doesn't mean "I'm happy to be at NIU".

He clearly wanted to be a head coach. He very well could feel that he made the wrong choice on picking NIU.

Granted, it's speculation. But just by pointing out that he "doesn't regret leaving MSU" does nothing to support the idea that he's happy he picked NIU.

And, take this for what it's worth, but I've always like Monty even though my faith in if he's actually the right guy for the job anymore has waned. But, I've always liked Montgomery. I still do. I'm just not comfortable with his quotes in this article. And, tbh, I'm not sure I'll ever really be able to forget the comments either.

I'm not saying he's happy here, nowhere did I say that...which is why it's all silly guesses and trying to make a big stink out of a little article. It's a few quotes. People need to not get so upset about such little things. That's my point.

The charge calls in college basketball are becoming worse than catch/no-catch in the NFL...

Depending on how you translate things, this isn't exactly a quote that screams that he feels he made the correct decision.

Quote:“I just tell him, if you’re going to take another job, especially a head coaching job, just make sure all the the boxes are checked — good administration, good program, somewhere you can win, somewhere you can see your family being happy,” said Montgomery, who interviewed several places before the NIU offer. “Don’t just take a job to say you’re a head coach. People used to tell me and I just didn’t listen. Sometimes the job you have is a better job.”

If you know how handlers and opposing coaches work, you know this will spread like wildfire.

Perception is all that matters.

(IMO Monty knows he’ll be elsewhere next year. He is well aware how a quote like that permeates in the recruiting world.)

RE: MBB @ Michigan St
NIU's defense the last 10 - 12 minutes of that half was...good? semi-good? If they could bring that energy and close out D to MAC play, they'd make a good run.

The offense...well, just bad. Not going to keep it close against one of the best in the country when you can't make 3's or Free Throws..

Exactly. Perception becomes reality. Even into 8 years I was willing to give Monty a break. A few quotes in a small article changes how I think. It is time for change.

Then you're really thin-skinned...do you even know what the question was to him?

And I'm not some Monty guy, I think it's perfectly time to move on from him, he's had his time. But to get this worked up from a silly quote...it's just weak sauce.

Then I guess I am. It is a perception. 8 years and no real signature wins. Rod gets it all the time and has some success. Judge as you may. I better get back to this fun game to watch now

Right, give it to Monty for his record, which is pretty bad, that's fine. Not on a few words you're pulling out and trying to read into...that's the point.

This game was better than the Butler game...that's about all I can say for it.

Ok, I understand your point of view. My patience have run out on Monty. Agreed better than Butler game at least.

It was not better than the Butler game. They were the same game with same outcomes. NIU lost by 28pts today and got destroyed from 3. Butler won by 27pts and destroyed by hitting 3’s
