Izzo is not going to take it easy on anybody that’s not how it works! Every shot taken by a MSU player is with the intent of making the shot. Izzo will play lots of people but they normally do that and he still will except the subs to perform. Also the players for MSU starters or subs will try to make shots all game you cannot stop that.

Your opinion is as valid as mine and I didn’t predict 20 wins. Personally, I believe they needed a minimum of 9 non-conference wins to have a chance at postseason. 18 wins will get them into some crappy postseason tournament. They are not going to win the MAC tourney.

Reasons why I believe this: They will only have 3 or 4 guys that haven’t played D1 college basketball, They will have 4 or 5 double figure scorers and mostly because they finally will have many guys that can make a 3 pointer, look for them to make 8 or 9 a game and take around 20 a game. Last year they made 5 a game 8-9 would make a big difference in wins. They also will win more than one road game while remaining solid at home.

Yes! but you can find posts where I predict 12-14 wins. They have seven wins likely lose at MSU so starting conference with 7-wins. 19 games left they would need to go 11-7 to get to 18 wins and the postseason. 13 conference wins to get to 20 wins.

Glad to know someone is adept at locating past posts. That being said, I'm not too sure dekalb222 recalls how often and to what extent he's backed Monty. As for pantone1935, you believe Monty will go 13-5 in the MAC, would you like to buy a bridge over the Kishwaukee?

The NKU games, and James Madison game easily could’ve been wins and yes that’s a great chance at 20 wins. They likely will have 4 guys in double figures and they certainly have stepped up from 3pt land.

It’s written by a Lansing paper but it reads like Montgomery regrets coming to NIU
Leave Monty in East Lansing. Start the bus without him. Disgraceful quotes , pathetic. Those are quotes of a finger pointer and someone sulking. Have him be a water boy at MSU for all I care
The entire NIU athletic department needs an overhaul. Time to start over. I'll gladly take a decade of miserable losing if it means starting from scratch with new coaches and new AD. This is toxic and cannot continue like this

You didn't read down all the way, it continues. Monty says he was given advice don't take a bad job just to be a head coach, and he says he didn't listen to that. Sometimes the job you have before is better than the new job.
Those are rough statements from someone who just got fired and is venting let alone someone who is still coach of a program. Those are incredible statements to make. I sure hope recruits don't read Monty's statements because that sure as hell would chase them away from going to NIU.

Depending on how you translate things, this isn't exactly a quote that screams that he feels he made the correct decision.
Quote:“I just tell him, if you’re going to take another job, especially a head coaching job, just make sure all the the boxes are checked — good administration, good program, somewhere you can win, somewhere you can see your family being happy,” said Montgomery, who interviewed several places before the NIU offer. “Don’t just take a job to say you’re a head coach. People used to tell me and I just didn’t listen. Sometimes the job you have is a better job.”

I cannot believe the current coach of a program would say this. This is just incredible

I don’t read that as he wishes he wasn’t the head coach at NIU. I’m sure he wishes they won more and I know he is aware of challenges he faces at NIU but I’m sure he takes the NIU job 10 of 10 times.
