Cyclones sell most travel packages for non-NY6 bowl ever
In an era where fans pound their chests over BB tv ratings against Duke, this is intrinsically impressive for a fan base that walks the walk and overdelivers.

RE: Cyclones sell most travel packages for non-NY6 bowl ever
Props to Iowa State. They have little football tradition, so any bowl game is still a big deal to them. The Alamo Bowl is arguably the best bowl they've ever been to. They have always traveled well. They are known for flooding Kansas City with fans during the Big 12 basketball tournament, keeping it from becoming an all-KU party.
Little-known fact: Iowa State now has the third largest stadium in the Big 12, behind Texas and OU.
Their fan base deserves to survive the next round of conference realignment.

I agree with that sentiment.

I’ve been continually impressed with Iowa St in all regards. I can’t imagine them being a worse option than TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas St, and perhaps Oklahoma St and West Virginia. They are arguably the 4th best option as a XII school. Best overall fit would be the B1G but my guess would be a desperate PAC.

It's only 600 miles from Louisville, KY to Ames, IA. Just saying...

Great respect for ISU, but if the B12 implodes the most logical realistic candidate from that conference for the ACC remains the Eers.

IF the ACC needs two teams from the B12 it likely will be because the unthinkable has happened and Texas comes to the league with an ND type deal (again very unlikely). But if that is the case, then the NEED for two teams from the B12 would be the result of Texas wanting it - which means both teams will be from the state of Texas. One only has to see their history of scheduling to know this. And I doubt very much two will suffice.
Might have to take TTU, TCU, Baylor and Houston.
Cheers,
Neil

Neil, we all know that Texas will take the most profitable way out which means they will come to the ACC as a partial.
If TCU and Baylor/Houston come also, the 'Horns (5 game ACC deal) will be able to play at least 9 games in the state of Texas every other year and 8 on the off years. That scenario fits their overall strategy.

San Antonio is a good bowl location. Outside Orlando, its competitive or better than any other NY6 bowl

Yeah kind of sucks for ISU fans since they’re pretty much guaranteed to get left out of the next round.
B1G doesn’t need another Iowa team
ACC and PAC are too far away
Don’t fit in at all with the SEC
They’ll just have to make the most of whatever leftovers/AAC rump conference is left of the B12 but it won’t a P conference anymore

ISU is to its credit in an A5 conference now.
If the XII were to lose a few schools there are enough credible candidates out there to maintain it as an A5 conference.

Unfortunately, I doubt the B12 could lose "a few schools" and remain a P5. Obviously the "few schools" would include at least either Oklahoma and/or Texas. Don't know of anyone out there that could "replace" one (let alone both) for the B12 to remain P5. The B12 certainly "looked at" quite a few schools a couple of years ago and none moved the needle then. Unless you could get other P5 schools to come to the B12 (which I think is highly unlikely) replacing "a few schools" with current G5s just isn't going to cut it.

Underrated fan base. They've had to deal with a pretty crappy team for most of its history, but now they're reaping the benefits under a solid coach in Matt Campbell. You watch their home games and you'll see an electric atmosphere.
