Saban beating out Clark (or even vice versa) will make for interesting conversation.

Three of the finalists are in the play off which might affect the final voting. Monken could be a favorite after Army demolished Houston in their bowl game since voters may be fond of service academies. Notre Dame is always a strong traditional favorite in any football context.

If Clark wins, he will have beaten 6 nationally known coaches, not just Saban -- though it will make for some interesting conversations in Alabama.

Of course Dabo won. According to the college football playoff experts, they were completely correct with everything. 2 undefeated teams in the finals and the Heisman winner was in the playoffs and COY was on the winning team.

If Saban wins NC he gets it.
If someone else knocks off Saban, they deserve it.

Seems like this is the logic they use for this every time.

If so, just automatically give it to the coach of the national champion.

With all due respect to Coach Clark, I can't say I disagree with the selection. I mean, Clemson plugs in a true freshman at QB a third of the way into the season, runs the table to the playoffs, whereupon (without starting potential first overall draft pick DE) they bludgeon two teams with a combined record of 26-0 by a combined score of 74-19. I'd say he earned it.

makes sense.

a team with around 6 NFL first rounders whooped another team with about 10 NFL first rounders by 28pts.

I agree with that prior post. Just give all the coach's trophies to the CFP winning coach if that is the sports channel talking head's logic.

How about a special coaching award for Gene Stallings since one of his **EDIT - offensive players won the NC and COY award, and another offensive player was just named an NFL Head Coach (in Cleveland)

Only if they have to forfeit all their wins for playing ineligible, paid players.

PS: At least he didn't mention drunkenbear.

Dabo was a walk-on WR for the 92 championship team.

Since you brought him up -- It was reported that Gene Stallings "Ghost wrote" Bryant's book on "How to Build a Championship Football Team".

Scott Frost won it last year.
