MAC 9-32 in bowls since 2012
With only 6 of those games being vs a P5.

And 2-15 since 2016.

That weekday game thing is really helping that recruiting game. 04-jawdrop

RE: MAC 9-32 in bowls since 2012
I don’t get what happens in December.

I mean sure, the MAC tends to blow in general, but we still manage some wins against G5’s (and lower rung P5’s) in September OOC.

I don’t understand why it’s so much worse in Bowl season. Too caught up in the touristy experience, not as focused on the job at hand as the southern teams?

MAC teams are just happy they got invited still. Their hunger doesn’t seem to be at the same level as their first game of the season. The real answer I believe is Depth. Teams in different conferences are getting stronger and are at full strength by seasons end,and our teams are gassed. They do really look unprepared like deer in the headlights come bowl season. Especially NIU.

Just awful.
Bet against the MAC this time a year and win lots of money.

Maybe the 4 games in 21 days that many MAc teams play does take a toll. Of course nothing the commish or our wise ADs give a damn about but still.

The MAC needs to talk to Frank Solich--old school coach--and figure out what he's doing to win bowl games. He apparently is the only MAC coach who knows how to prepare a team for a bowl game.

The MAC doesn't blow in general---it just flat out blows. There are teams in the MAC that finish with 6-7 wins and qualify for a bowl game because they are given 4-5 wins against MAC teams that are in the bottom 10-15 in the country.

The problem is that the bottom half of the MAC is so bad it gives the appearance that the top half is decent. It's not.

Using NIU as an example (as conference champs) I would guess that they would be the 5th or 6th best team in the AAC, 5th or 6th in CUSA, 7th or 8th in the Mountain West, and probably 3rd or 4th in the Sun Belt. Though with 7 or 8 wins they appear to be good....how good are they, in reality???

No offense, but if NIU is where I place them, where does that place the Westerns of the world?

Depends on the season.

This year? About the same.
2017? Lower.
2016? Much higher.

I’m not one to come to the defense of the mac because I tend to agree with the overall hot garbage comment. However, I think we’d be about 4-5th in each conference including the Mountain West. SDSU was about 7th and were waxed by Ohio. Better in Sun Belt. Doesn’t usually mean anything game to game but I think that’s where I’d put us. I don’t think that’s true every year but probably so in 2018.

The MAC probably is the weakest conference, if not the second weakest. MAC used to be better than the Sun Belt, but then FCS teams App State, Geo South, and Geo State were promoted to FBS, joined the conference and started going to the bowl games.

Huskies have, somewhat, been a victim of their own success, in that winning the MAC awards them with the top MAC bowl opponent, like conference champions Marshall, UAB, and runner-up Boise State. It is kind of like rewarding the South Park pee wee hockey team by letting them play the Detroit Red Wings.

The Huskies were also underdogs in their last six bowl games. That is about as far as I can go in defending the Huskies' bowl performance, because, even as a team picked to lose, their performance is disappointing. When you are a three point underdog, you are supposed to lose by three, not 24.

San Diego State was 6th in the Mountain West and dropped 4 of 5 heading into bowl season. Not sure if there was a barrage of injuries or anything but Ohio sure seems to have caught them at the right time.

Wanna know why SDSU looked so bad?

Their idiot coach said their bowl practices were just "normal practices" used for next year, with no special preparation on the bowl game at all...according to the sports betting channel (205) on Sirius xm ........

Bettors were all over Ohio.

Wow. Makes we wonder if our coaches do the same thing.

How does NIU hold there own/beat Pig Ten teams regularly, then fold against CUSA in the post season?

The Big Ten teams that NIU regularly beats would also get their asses handed to them by this year's version of UAB or Middle Tennessee in most other years.

AAC’s 5th best team just lost 70-14 to Army.
MWC’s 7th best team beat Wofford by a FG.

A 2-6 MAC team beat an 8-1 B1G team.
