We again gave up a season high in threes to a team. We HAVE to defend the perimeter better, have too!
I can’t watch the pressers anymore, it’s the same thing every time excuses excuses excuses

I didn’t watch the press conference afterwards. Did you watch the game? I’m questioning if you did because I don’t recall Mercer having a lot of open looks out there. Like I said, they were hot and lucky last night. Sometimes that happens despite good defense.

I did not watch it. Maybe they were open, maybe they were not. Bottom line is the same trend continues

Lol what were the results? More of the same. So regardless of what you think you saw I see the same results and the same getting burned for lack of perimeter D. You earn the benefit of the doubt this team has not earned that.

I heard someone say we played better defense while giving up 53% on FG's. Curious how you'd come to that conclusion? Also, how does Mercer turn 11 TO's into 22 points while we turn 11 TO's into 7 points? That's amazing.

The only thing I see we did better was rebound on offense and limit our TO's to 11, so we at least stayed close. Just another long line of moral victories though. McGrath is now 2-15 on the road as the coach at UNCW.

The answer you seek is in your own statement.

1. Look at the final score. While they shot a low percentage, their 75 pts is lower than some of the others we’ve given up.

2. They hit a lot of shots that were either “lucky bounces” or with hands in their faces from UNcW players. There is such a thing as playing great defense even when a shot falls. If you don’t understand that, then I’ll question if you’ve actually ever played the game. For whatever reason, Mercer was just hot shooting last night... and I don’t think it was because we played bad defense. Perhaps they just felt really confident knowing we haven’t won many games.

3. Lastly, Mercer is not a bad team. They’re 5-1 at home now this season and over the last several years are the winningest team in GA.

If we don’t show improvement during conference play my worry meter will rise.

You guys are ridiculous. You act like I’m saying this team is amazing and doesn’t need work. In reality, all I’m saying is there is slight improvement happening. I get it though. You guys wanna wallow and as long as it’s a “L” we should all wallow in despair with you.

Enjoy.

I’m actually watching games looking forward to conference play. Y’all do you.

Yay! We didn’t let a 4-7 team hang 90 on us!
That better?

I may be a slow learner. But I believe in giving a coach time to make things work. I have practiced this with every coach we have had, no matter if they were my choice or not. I don't see jumping ship after a year and a half. Especially since it was a depleted team and a very short period to recruit. Yes, we are taking in water, which should not be ignored. But we aren't sinking just yet. We have a solid transfer sitting with three years left and two recruits that look like they will contribute right off.
Besides, what options do we have. McGrath will be here next year anyway. I'm not ready to pile on and b_ _ch about things that aren't going my way openly on a fan page that gets back to players. If anyone thinks that solves any problems, I have to call that ignorance. These kids need more encouragement than that. They are frustrated enough as it is.

If you think that somehow the players are following our lead and aren't having these same thoughts on their own, you're clueless. And if this stuff is getting back to them, hopefully it's getting back to the coaches as well. Perhaps, it can solve problems, because nothing else is.

The fact is, this coach is paid more than our Chancellor. He's an employee and is expected to perform just like every other employee. Just because he's employed to be a coach doesn't mean he is beyond criticism. Although I hear people say we're progessing, the facts don't support that conclusion. I clearly laid out that we're actually scoring less than last year, and our defense is about the same as last year. Our record indicates we're not performing better. And we've been blown out by teams we played better against last year. Yes, we SHOULD be better and we SHOULD be progressing, but we aren't in reality.

McGrath will be here one more year regardless, true. But he needs to hear and feel the expectations of the fans. This is our premier sport and we operate on a tight budget. He's in charge of that. Failure in this sport affects our whole athletic department dramatically. We don't have football to gloss over our failure in basketball. Just like I do anywhere in my life, just show me you are making changes and adjustments when you fail. Do that, and I won't say a word. If you are failing and keep doing the same thing and expecting to succeed, sorry, you won't have my support and you'll hear criticism for failing to adjust.

McGrath is a grown man. Nobody forced him to step out of his comfortable job at Carolina to take on a HC job. He now gets the full credit for success or failure.

You are also a grown man. Why not go straight to the source and talk to him. You have a number of options to do so. Maybe you'll get answers. I don't really know.

I'd really like to see some positive, some improvement, some glimmer of hope. While i agree with you about positive recruits etc, if he can't coach, all that doesn't really matter.

I've been here for every coach we have had. And I've seen impatient ramblings on every one. It turned out right for some coaches and wrong for others. I can remember Wainright and Brownell getting hammered early on because of this and that. Even Keatts got nailed from the beginning. The hate and discontent does nothing to improve our program. It only contributes to the cancer. So I will continue to play the wait and see card. And after next season I may be expressing my discontent. But at this time, I choose a more positive outlook. If others don't see it that way, then to each his own.

Exactly!!!

I may question some small coaching bits here and there, but by and large I’m in that same boat.
