It’s always some excuse for UTEP isn’t it. UTEP basketball and football are complete joke right now.

Great game overall, I don't think either team lead by more than 9 or 10 points at any time.

Interesting. I didn't think traveling was a reviewable call.

Yeah, since when has that been reviewed?

Maybe a UAB fan can clarify the final call.

On CUSA TV the announcers said the refs were at the monitor to see if he walked after losing initial possession. Maybe the refs reviewed to see if he got the shot off before the buzzer? Which I'm pretty sure he did...

They didn't review traveling. They reviewed whether he got the shot off in time. They ruled he did not and Troy won the game.

I may be wrong, but I believe the only video angle that they could review was the one that plays above the court. That video did not show the ball leaving his hands and the light board in the same shot, so I'm not sure how he could make the ruling that the shot was late.

My biased opinion is that he looked at the video, and realized they missed the traveling call (which is not supposed to be reviewable) and decided to fix the call by calling the shot late.

If you also look at the video, you see UAB players celebrating, naturally, but you also see Troy players walking off dejectedly. If they thought the shot was late, they would have been protesting and not conceding defeat.

Everyone in the building, not just UAB fans thought the shot was good. Even the Troy coach was complaining that he traveled, not that the shot was late.

You should not be able to make up for bad missed calls on review unless those missed calls are reviewable. You have to keep to certain standards.

I thought the shot was good too.

Nonetheless, if UAB shoots 50% from the FT line, they win this one easily. (7 for 22. Yikes!!!)

UTEP's mbb will be a roller coaster ride this year. Play well one night and poorly the next. They will improve some as the season goes on and improve a lot next season with the addition of transfers sitting out this year. Football is hopefully rebuilding but only time will tell if we have the right coach in charge. I think we may but his 2nd year will have to be measurably better than his first. So chuckle all you want but the time is coming, especially in mbb, that we won't be quite so joke worthy.

UTEP hired a new coach that has brought in a lot of major talent, but they are transfers that are sitting out. UTEP's leading scorer has been hurt, and has not played in two week. He did play but was limited to 27 minutes, in which he scored 20 points. UTEP is a young team, with a new coach that will struggle at times this year and at times will be amazing. Last night was one of the struggle times. ODU better hope that UTEP doesn't have one of its on nights Jan 24th when they come to El Paso. I have seen the guys sitting out play and they beat the hell out of the guys on the court now. I will say it now that UTEP will be a top 25 team next year, so enjoy poking fun at the basketball team for now. Just remember this is not a Tim Floyd team.

UTEP will be fine in the long term, because Rodney Terry can really coach. But, I'd put good money on the fact that they will not be a Top 25 team next year. They'll be competitive in the league for sure, but we've had a bunch of better teams in this league never make the Top 25.

Trust me nobody is laughing. UTEP has a great basketball tradition and they will have more fan support this year than 2/3rds of the league even if they only win 9 games. I hope you guys rebound quickly and help bring the conference up to full strength.

And if you tank in the offseason and suddenly "have a night" against a top 4 team in the conference then well... that's exactly what sucks about this conference.

WKU currently leading St Mary's 34-27 at halftime. Tops actually playing like they give a crap today rather than waiting until the last 5 minutes of the game.

Marshall blown out against an average Texas A&M team 92-68. Marshall is really disappointing this year. I told many of their fans that they would miss Peneva but they didn't want to hear it.

ODU beats Morgan State by 23 but the big story is BJ Stith, who suffered a shoulder injury in the first half. If he's gone a while, well, *you* try losing the back-to-back-to-back conference POW.

They tried to give it away, the last few minutes. Missing free throws, letting the shot clock run out, and letting Ford score at will. Not a great St Mary's team but will likely finish second to Gonzaga in the WCC.
