38 games - 151.124 million viewers total - 3.977 average

The data for the annual ACC-SEC match-ups is as follows:

FSU-Fla - 24.263 million viewers total - 4.044 average (6 games)
Clem-So Caro - 18.052 million viewers total - 3.009 average (6 games)
GT-UGA - 7.319 million viewers total - 2.440 average (3 games)*
UL-UK - 3.217 million viewers total - 1.072 average (3 games)*

*When game played at SEC site, these games have been shown on SECN which is not nationally metered.

I suspect once the ACCN is up and running the same thing will happen with UL-UK when played in Louisville but not sure if the same will hold true with GT-UGA, especially if one or both are good.

Otherwise, make of the data what you will.

Cheers,
Neil

OK, I've bolded the rarely-played games, and I'm thinking pent-up demand for these games is real - if you go some years without playing and then finally meet up, lots of people (relative to your team's norm, at least) will watch it. Seems like a simple formula...

RE: ACC-SEC OOC Games 2013-2018
What you might see in the "new order":

The traditional games FSU/Florida, Ga/GT, Clemson/SC, UL/KY may be put on a "rotation". Maybe played only 2 out of 3 years with a substitute thrown in for ratings. Maybe FSU plays Alabama once every three years in lieu of Florida and Miami takes the Florida game that year. The third year Clemson plays Georgia and Carolina gets South Carolina that year, etc.
Alabama might get a regular rotation of FSU, Virginia Tech and Louisville, Tennessee might get a regular rotation of Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech (on their off year from Georgia), and Carolina/NC State.
Notre Dame might even get in on the action with a scheduled SEC game (they added Georgia and have Alabama on a future schedule).
These rotations could be planned years in advance, used a neutral site games if necessary, and take advantage of crossover scheduling.

Just a thought.04-cheers

ACC REALLY needs to allow for a cupcake for games prior to SEC games for those playing annually.

FSU is very poorly managed (weak athletic dept) and just not smart enough to fight for this. FSU playing BC this year before UF. Stupid. Stupid for FSU and the ACC.

Watching as an outsider, I thought 2014 was such a special year for GT, especially those last 4 games, vs Clemson, @ UGA (winning in OT), vs FSU in the ACCCG (losing a close game), and then taking care of the Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl.

Hope Collins works out for you guys.

Cheers,
Neil

Exactly my point. The ACC must find a way to incorporate high profile SEC games into our scheduling.
The teams that have SEC annual games plus Notre Dame every three years would have a difficult time adding a high profile SEC game under the current playoff scenario, as it reduce their chances to make the playoffs.
One solution is to limit the number of rivalry contests. Is it good business to replace a contest with 3 million viewers with one that could attract 8 million? Would limiting the number of times Jawja played GT make it a more desirable contest for TV?
