OFFICIAL "WE NEED A NEW OC & QB COACH NOW!" THREAD
I'll admit some of it's talent but.....
-The PLAYS we run are repetitive and generic at best.
-And the TIMING of the play calls (run vs pass) are head scratchers.
We have some "play-makers" waiting in the wings, We need to get them the ball in space and make plays. We're gonna need to score a LOT more next year.
If anyone has an argument that Coach U is an above-average OC I'm all ears.
(Oh, and MD02, please don't hijack this thread with your "Carey hates Offense" comments. Thanks in advance,)

I think our O is running the plays that it's capable of running. At least that's what it feels like. I love my Huskies, but frustrated like everyone else. Many BYU fans rubbing our bowl loss in my face out here in Utah. I just smile and say "can you believe you lost to that team".... This bowl loss really sucks.
I nominate Lord Stanely!

If you throw in some fake punts every now and then you're hired.

RE: OFFICIAL "WE NEED A NEW OC NOW!" THREAD
I'm not a big one for calling for people's jobs. That said, Coach U is not above average as an OC. I don't think he's even average. Agree that our offensive talent doesn't compare with the Lynch/Harnish years, but I think it's capable of a lot more than what it's shown. In the bowl game, we ran a nifty play that netted I think 18 yards--a slant to Cole Tucker. I'm no expert, but on the replay I thought it was a surprisingly deceptive play for NIU, with the other receivers bunched near Cole drawing the DBs away from him and Childers getting rid of the ball quickly and hitting Cole at full stride. This sort of creativity should be the norm. (Or maybe it really wasn't that creative and the many beers I was consuming in order to not demolish my TV made me think it was creative.) Anyway, I think Coach U is giving it his best shot, I like that he tried something new by moving down to the sidelines, etc., but I just don't think he's the guy to take this group of players to a higher level.

Yes please. We badly need a QB coach that can develop a competent QB. Quarterbacks should be better year to year in a system as basic as our offense.

I understand he has a family etc...and I'm sure he's a nice guy BUT it's no different that any of us with our jobs.
He's being paid well. His job is D1 OC. There's no evidence to support any argument that he is good at being a D1 OC and should be retained.

Not hijacking but this is like putting all the blame for global warming on Brazil. It is misdirected blame, an OC is only going to run what the head coach wants.

I didn’t give any evidence that he was thxjoe. In fact, quite the opposite.

Correct. You concur. I didn't really reply to you correctly.
And in another similarity between us, while drinking Tuesday night I almost threw a cookie at the TV. And I don't even like cookies with beer....that's how upset I was.

RE: OFFICIAL "WE NEED A NEW OC & QB COACH NOW!" THREAD
Our WR coach needs to go to. Those kids are lacking fundamentals, like coming back and attacking the ball or looking the ball into their hands. They're already looking up field as soon as the ball hits their hands.
As for Coach U, I'm glad everyone agrees he needs to go. Unlike Carey, which is a situation that isn't changing anytime soon, we can move on from Coach U. I'm not too sure his plays would work on a high school level...I don't know why he chooses to give Childers decision making in the pocket. He gets too overwhelmed and his recievers don't get open, resulting in sacks. Every pass should be quick one read timing plays. Maybe Childers progresses next year. But he's been limited this year and last, Coach U should of seen that.

Ideally we would have a new head coach and replace EVERYONE, but no we tack on another year.

Next we'll find out that he gets an extension if we're above .500.
