Do any of those matter? I thought the only ranking what the NCAA Net ranking?

Yeah, but I don't think Net rankings are updated until Sunday, so these will have to do to give a sense of where UC stands.

Exactly. Just a measure to see where we stack up at this juncture. Lots of games to play before March...

They theoretically are a tool the committee can use (they have said as much) but there's no evidence they're used in a meaningful way.

However they are a good measure of how good uc is right now. If you're trying to compare team quality they matter a lot.

If you're committed to thinking UC is garbage, then you can certainly ignore those rankings . . .

And I was not disappointed. This team is well coached. They play a team game and really know how to defend. They clearly had a plan and executed. A hard nosed style of basketball that will lead to more solid recruits in the future. I was a bit disappointed that the starters were shut down starting around the 6 minute mark, but the walk ons faired pretty well against ucla as well. Things are looking up for Cincinnati. They’ve found a solid coach who is going places… will they be able to afford him in the future? Probably not, but they are certainly enjoyable to watch for the time being. Love the hustle and energy that the players bring every game.

Interesting comment. But we as fans become enamored by teams based upon a small sample size. Had this person watched the Mississippi State game, would he have said the same? That in no way suggests UC isn't overachieving this season and exceeding almost everyone's expectations. But I know I've watched team du jour from the MAC or Sun Belt on occasion just dominate a "better" team and I'll catch myself thinking, "that guy can really coach; imagine what he could do with the resources he'd have at Cincinnati?".

Sometimes, it just all comes together in one game (or one tournament--George Mason, Florida Gulf Coast) and it's a beautiful thing for the winner. Long term, consistent achievement is a different matter altogether. That writer probably had no clue UC earned a #2 seed last season and sent two guys to the NBA. So he thinks Mick will want any lousy P5 job that opens up in March.

Other than the 3 pt. shooting, I didn't think we looked bad against MSU. They're a tough team and it was a true road game.

I think the theme behind that UCLA's guys comments is that they would gladly trade places with us right now.

Teams in recent years like IU, ND, school 6 and others that have hit low spots and didn't make the tournament would have gladly traded places with us.

We make the tournament every year. I don't care what some of y'all say, that's not an easy thing to do.

As have Brooks and Scott!

Really just need Broom to start playing up a level and this team can be pretty good.

I love when Twitter accounts allow a guest to take over for the day and I'm glad you emulated that. It brings fresh perspective. So who's posting for Bearcats#1 today?

no, its me. I finally got my meds refilled.

what are you taking and do you want to trade?

talking about jenifer, i agree with mark. we need to have at least one guy (not saying there aren't others) who plays stupid free. my thoughts on jenny have changed quite a bit. him being on his last run allows the talent to develop
