RE: QB for next year
Hopefully the light is turned on for Tears. He has great potential as he showed in the MACC. He made Childers look really good. If he can be like that consistently next year, he can make a lot of money...

RE: QB for next year
JL set a standard that is nearly impossible to match. Early next season Childers will pass Lynch in career starts. Here is the W-L records of our starters in the post Lynch era:

Lynch 24-4
Hare 15-8
Maddie 3-2
Graham 3-5
Fiedler 0-2
Santa 4-1
Childers 13-9

Childers will have 22 starts entering his Jr year compared to zero starts for Lynch. If Carey sticks with Childers, and he continues to be injury free, Childers will easily set a school record for games started.

Keep an eye on Drake Davis, former Illini QB from Naperville that is transferring out. Seems to be pretty close with some current guys on our squad and they seem to be recruiting him. He also just started following the NIU Recruiting twitter.

Would be a great get but our coaching staff is too busy trying to find the next Jordan Lynch.03-banghead

Gosh we need for production out of the QB. Doesn't instill fear into opponents with any skill. He knows how to play, strong - he takes a beating. There are plays every game a truck runner could bust for 20+ and he gets 4. To win the MAC with the total lack of offensive skills really is a testament to coaching and players will to win.

RE: QB for next year
Seems there's confident Childers and panic Childers. Panic Childers doesn't trust his protection against the UAB rush and thus doesn't step up in the pocket to avoid the rush or look downfield, puts the ball on the turf sans contact. Confident Childers we saw in the MACC. Either he needs to improve his poise with maturity or Carey needs to look elsewhere, because I don't know if our line will be that much better. Word is confident Childers looks great in practice, and I believe it, but you know what Mike Tyson says, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

We haven't seen poised Childers often...
