Southside Dragons @The_DailyDragon

Probably already reported but DA was back in the locker room celebrating as the game ended

Evan Dudley @DudleyDoWriteAL

UAB head coach Bill Clark confirmed in postgame that D.A. Williams is out of the hospital and back with the team. He'll be returning to Birmingham tonight with the team.

So incredibly proud of this program. Nights like this is what They worked so hard to prevent.

UAB football had the national spotlight and absolutely kicked ass.

GO BLAZERS!!

UAB was the much more physical team and put a whoopin on them. Loved seeing how hard they played, cost them some penalties but it was not for lack of effort that was for sure.

Coach looked pretty relaxed for a guy the night before signing day and 35 seniors leaving. Next year starts at 8am tomorrow

RE: Game Thread: Bowling with the Blazers
I have been a UAB fan since 95 and I think this is the first year we have ever ended the season on a high note.
It’s either been:
losing seasons
winning seasons but blow out losses to end them
winning season but finding out we didn’t get selected to go to a bowl game
ending the season on a big win but then having the program shut down.

It’s a truly amazing feeling to end such an incredibly awesome season on such a good note.

Xavier Ubosi playing to full potential completely changed the team and the game.

That is great news. It was the one cloud hanging over our victory as we went to bed. So glad he is OK.

I loved that during the trophy presentation when they gave him his offensive MVP award he took the trophy, sat it right back down and said "Thats nice but that is the trophy we came here for" Then lifted the bowl championship trophy over his head.

RE: Game Thread: Bowling with the Blazers
Ubosi would have been a 1300+ yards receiver with double digit TDs if TJ3 had been the QB all season. He moves into serious draft consideration now. Great guy and Im thrilled to see him succeed, and hope he plays on Sundays for years to come.

It was important that Clark and Co also proved to recruits watching last night that UAB is not just a three yards and a cloud of dust, but that a big play WR can thrive at UAB. Frankly, that wasnt clear most of the past two years. Timely display, since we dont have another such receiver (tall and very fast) on the roster right now.

RE: Game Thread: Bowling with the Blazers
2019 will be a special year.
Dec.14th the state will be 200 years old
That year, UAB will be 50 years old. It has come far from its origin in Tidwell Hall on 20th street.
The D1 UAB football program will be 24 years old, and the excitement level will be the greatest in its first quarter century. We don't yet know how good we can become, but we are anxious to find out.
