He was behind 4 backs. 2 of them are gone this year.

Retro, our running back position last season was crowded with 8 RBs. Strong, Cox, Sinclair, Jackson, Davis, Knight, Simmons and Geiger. Geiger caught my eye during 2018 spring game.

Geirger finished last year 3rd in rushing stats behind Strong and Cox. Geirger played in 3 games while Davis and Knight played in 4 games. Geirger produced the same outcome as Davis and Knight.

I'm in no way down on Geirger, but most of his carries/production came against a low level FCS team. That is not to say he doesn't have promise, but to attempt to compare him to Davis and Knight is a stretch.
Remove his vmi game stats he still on par with Davis and Knight stats. He did well vs Middle Tenn and Rice. My main point is with him as a 3rd back behind Davis and Strong it's not going to be a total drop off in talent at that position.

I agree with that, from what I have seen he is a good option at RB#3

Its happened before for kids that have the body/athleticism/coordination to do so. I feel like people just want to put SW at WR or DB because of his skin color.

I don't think it's that. In HS the best athletes becomes the QB. Lets take the better athletes and move to skill positions.

You don't think he has the body/athleticism to play WR? IDK if he has the coordination, I'd hope he could catch a ball better than he can throw one. He should understand running routes and the plays having played QB though. IDK if he'd want to but unless he becomes a lot more accurate or all our other options are equally bad I don't see him starting behind center. He was inconsistent in his passing accuracy at best and consistently bad at times. I don't mean to run the young man down, I and certainly everyone hoped he would work out.

His accuracy his freshman year was much better than his sophomore year. I don't know what happened and am curious if the injury played a role.

Stevie appears to be a great kid and I'm firmly in his corner. I hope he becomes the next great ODU QB. But, watching him run does not make me think he has the hips/quick twitch to be a WR. He looks like he lumbers.

I think that has changed over time. When I was in HS, the best athlete was the QB and he played QB, S, Punter, and Kicker. Nowadays teams throw the ball a lot more and they are looking for the best combo of athleticism/throwing ability. SW was not the best athlete on his team.

Big, strong and fast he is awkward - like the big kid who has not yet "grown into his body". Lumbering is an appropriate description
Unfortunately that has not so far changed. It may still, but until it does he is not nearly quick enough to play WR or DB.

The competition has dramatically improved. deWeaver, Smartt, and Hayden Wolff are legitimate FBS talent; on paper by far the best we have ever had that the position.

Yeah, I don't know if I've ever really seen him rin in the open field though. Usually he's trying to slip through the D Line or around the edge. He's not quick on his feet but I do believe he's fast. At 6'4" 210 lbs. (according to ODUSports bio) I think he could play wideout. You just need a half a step on a smaller corner and a QB that can throw it up where you can get go up and get it.
