We're getting a lot of bang for our buck. It'll be a huge draw for new recruits. Our donations to ODAF are surprisingly good. I know the new structure should generate considerable revenue (assuming it doesn't chase off the lower level donors). The new luxury suite is a game changer for big donors, IMO. I'm doubling my donation this year just to get into it. I know I'm not alone because a lot of my friends and acquaintances are hyped up about the luxury suite, as well. More money will result in better coaches. Better coaches and better recruits will inevitably lead to more wins.

I'd like to see us return to some of the risk taking play-calling that helped us compete and succeed early on. I feel like the more vanilla our play-calling has become, the more average we've become. We're not established enough yet to be vanilla. That said, everything we're building towards has me pretty stoked about the what's to come! The future is bright, folks!

You become competitive in the trenches, and become dominant with the addition of skill players.

We have not been competitive in the trenches, especially on offense, since joining FBS
We had one season, 2016, that the Dline was there, but it was woefully thin and collapsed thereafter.
This has been obvious and the primary reason for the hugely lopsided scores vs solid opponents we are so often a part of.

As for skill positions
We will be solid at RB
QB is still a big question, we may need to bring in a MASH unit. (More about that later.)
WR is a HUGE question.

We seem to be addressing the inadequacies in the secondary.
If we run a 3-4 we will have a plethora of linebackers, as we will be using DEs and true LBs.

However, the DLine is once again a question, especially with no obvious Nose Tackle having yet emerged.
The Oline is even more of a question as we have one legitimate lineman returning in Isaac Weaver, and the RFR returning are big question marks. As I noted in another post, they are far down the list in comparison with many of our conference peers in both 247/rivals ratings, and more significantly (IMHO) D1 offers.

IMHO, you build a program from the trenches out, and not from the skill players in. We have not successfully done that in FBS.

I like the new coaches, so I am guardedly optimistic for the long term future.
For 2019, I am not sure we will yet have the necessary players to be competitive with the daunting schedule, no matter who the JUCOs or coaches might be.

This isn't true. Tony Barnett will return as far as I know. Andrew Lawson has started several game throughout his career and may be the favorite to grab another spot.

The rest are unknown. Rivers probably has a leg up as he was on par with Weaver through most of camp.

I don’t think Rivers is even on the team anymore. Muller may have some talent. I think Salvideri will be good

Wasn't Brickhouse supposed to be very highly regarded, with a few P5 offers?

Our O-Line is not going to be very good. We have a few guys that could emerge, but if we have any injuries, we are going to be in big trouble. This is not my opinion.

Considering we couldn't block him when we played them this year, this wouldn't be a bad thing, especially if one of his former coaches is going to be on staff.

He also seems to be considering Miami, UCF, FAU, and Mizzou.

And with B. Scott adding OL duties to his OC duties, it's not going to get the attention it needs. OL is just too damned detailed a position to give to someone who is struggling at the OC position.

Discuss.

I don't know that to be true or not. Coordinators are typically position coaches with the added responsibility of overseeing position coaches and calling plays. He will also have another body helping instruct the OL. In college, you only get a limited number of hours to coach as it is.

I expect the left side to be really good. We certainly need people to step up at center and the right side. Agree on lack of depth (earlier poster).

What evidence do you have that Scott is "struggling at the OC position"? I would say that aside from consistently making the wrong choice at QB, which it has been said on this board was BW's choice, our offense has been above average to good for most of our history.

BW has admitted that QB selection was solely his decision.

Brian Scott was a big supporter of David Washington, so much so that I suspect the decision to go with SB did not sit well with him.
As reported publicly, Brian Scott lobbied hard to get Blake LaRussa in for the VT game.

The primary weakness in our offense of late has been the OL, a position that was excellent in FCS when last Brian Scott had his hand in it.
Having said that, I am not confident with the caliber of player, save for Weaver and Barnett, on the OL for 2019.
