MyBB You may not ageee with me...but, what I saw yesterday
was a tourney team. I know the record does not suggest that, but with all the things went against us (the refs, Harris sub par game to name a few), our guys played and hustled till the last buzzer. What I saw yesterday:
- team is fearless and it’s not intimated playing against a top 3 in-state rivals
- Penny and other coaches knows the x and ys of the game and made adjustments on the defense in the 2nd half (I wish Penny and other coaches had some plays to create screen for Harris for 3s)
- with all the poor calls, boys didn’t give up
- we are more boxing out and getting some rebounds
- despite the fact that we were physically out-matched, we did a good job in the paint
- most importantly guys gave everything out on the floor. True tiger spirit.

This team will likely finish with less wins than last yrs team so very doubtful this would be a tourny team unless finish 14-2 in the AAC.

We should all have our eyes wide-open at this point. It will take winning the AAC tournament for us to make the NCAA this season.

RE: You may not ageee with me...but, what I saw yesterday
I will agree that we certainly have a better-than-average CHANCE to win the conference tournament on our home floor and secure the auto-bid.

There's not a single team remaining on the schedule that is even in the same stratosphere, talent-wise, as the Vols. Houston will be our toughest remaining opponent and, having already watched them, they are a full rung below UT.

We can lose to anyone in the AAC if our effort isn't superlative like it was yesterday but I'm convinced we can also beat anyone left on the schedule.

Agree, but it is doable at home with continued improvement.

I agree as well. We have a good chance of winning the tournament if we continue to improve over the season.

There is a 100% chance we will win our next 3.... And those games will destroy the strong strength of schedule numbers we have right now

Looking at the tough conference schedule, I think this team will have 17 wins going into the AAC tourney

Not sure I'd really consider the conference sched all that tough top to bottom. If Memphis played with the same intensity they had vs Tennessee they'd finish with 13 to 14 conference wins. We all know they won't play that way every game so 8 to 9 W's is much more realistic.

In my book, realistic would be not to look ahead at all... or make predictions. I suppose one could say there are realistic predictions, but realistically speaking, the situation is fluid. Last year, SMU and Temple were realistically predicted to make the tourney and go faaaaaar!!!!!

OK. What the heck, I say we get better both as a team and as individuals, and the coaches achieve an extremely precise insight during practices and the games...which leads to the intensity level rising.

The conference tournament is home court advantage too. We got the rims. lol

There isn't a single very good team in our conference, not one.

Which is why we have a shot at doing well.

I do think Houston is at least good. But I get what you are saying.

Houston is presently battling St Louis. The game is tied with 1:09 to go.

Houston on the road is going to be tough. They have won 20 something in a row at that high school gym they play in.

This is why I want to play them while they are ranked and undefeated.

Some on here think we have no chance against Houston. They are wrong.

Plus if they remain unbeaten when we arrive, they will be ripe for an L. Nobody wins forever. And again they aren’t world beaters
