A tubby team would have lost by 30 today. To show fight and determination today was a sign, at least to me, that we are not back yet but we're getting there.
agreed
you can't get from 0 to 100 in a Lexus Accord in 1 second, it takes a minute to get there
I better get my Acura Maxima in the shop then.

Unfortunately those don't matter in the eyes of the selection committee. With no quality out of conference W's we'll have to win the AAC Tournament. I'm not even sure winning the regular season title would be good enough for an at large.

If you define “back” as returning to the national arena of relevance, then yes. We are getting a lot of attention. And I think a lot of people are pulling for us.
Back as an ncaa power? Not yet. No one is yet trembling at the mention of our name. That’s hopefully coming soon.

I don’t see how they could deny us if we won the league. Are they going to be able to take the team that came in second and third but not the team that won the league?
Also, if Houston is undefeated when we play them at Houston (and they probably will be), that would be considered a really good win. They would be ranked around #10.

We beat Houston when they were ranked last season and it wasn't even good enough for an NIT berth despite over 20 wins. Plus Houston has won 22 straight home games so don't count on it. I believe their last home loss was when KJ Lawson went off on them during Tubby's first season as coach.

Houston isn’t/aren’t world beaters. So I think the game will be competitive and we will have a good shot at a win. Since you like to play the “what if’s” game.... here’s one for you LSU had them beat last week at Houston. If LSU had made just one clutch shot when they had a double digit lead, they would have won. That said, I’m glad Houston won, because I want to play them while they’re unbeaten and highly ranked.
Nobody wins forever, so simply saying “don’t count on it” isn’t good enough. Lets at least play the game.
