Yes. Al Fisher at St. Louis. He scored 27 of our last 28 points and we won on his shot at the buzzer in OT. I was there, it was the most ridiculous performance I have ever seen.

I should have remembered this one but did not. It was one to remember. I also seem to remember that he had a great game at St. Marys, also.

Right, he had a 28 point game in the bracket buster against St. Mary's to get us nationally ranked for a minute. We held Patty Mills to 5 points on 2-11 shooting that game. Unfortunately, the next year Patty Mills came into Kent and turned the tables on Fisher.

Don't know if he is trying too hard, is a mental thing, or just doesn't have the skills for D1. It may help to start him for one of the next home games (Albany or Oberlin) & just let him play the whole game. It may make a difference if he knows he won't get yanked if blows a defensive play or makes an unforced turnover. Anyway, I am rooting for him & hope is can be a positive contributor.

I like that idea. With our lack of size, and Whittington's propensity to foul, Duling is going to have to play some important minutes at some point during MAC play.

I never saw Duling play in high school, but friends of mine who did told me he was the real deal. I really don't know why he hasn't clicked yet at the collegiate level. Someone on this site once stated that he doesn't quite "fit" at any one position. That is as good an explanation as any. I'm sure the coaching staff is trying hard to find a role for him, because they need him to contribute, given their shortage of tall players.

Jordan Mincy vs. Ohio University (can’t remember the year, but I remember Reghi calling some of those threes!)

Not a bad effort last night. I think Whittington will be a tough matchup for some MAC teams. I know this isn’t groundbreaking but the recipe for this team has got to be:

*play hard on defense and create transition
*share the ball in an effort to find the hot hand each night
*play hard on defense and create transition
*let 23 get his
*pick your spots with Whittington and Frederick

Another 'position-less' player is Peterson. The difference is, MP finds ways to somewhat impact the game with some defense, assists, steals, opportunistic rebounds and an opportunistic shot, sometimes.

Duling provides little of that in any area on a consistent basis. And both are butchers at the FT line (although MP is getting better). Perhaps this is a spot where Duling can slip into the starting lineup just for a change ... but also easy to see why a coach would not make that move, either.

In then end, for a team like this one that needs tangible production from everybody, that's two guys with decent size who just don't give a lot.

Perhaps it's time to take a look at Gholston???
And what has happened with Harris???

RE: Kent State @ Louisville
I agree on Gholston. I hate seeing talented freshman waste a year at the end of the bench, but I understand the grad transfer rule keeps should be redshirts from happening. He's probably our second longest guard and he was a big time rebounder in HS so I really think keeping him engaged and getting him experience could be important later in the year when our lack of post depth challenged.

Total speculation on my part, but I think Harris is a casulity of the grad transfer rule. From what I've seen he's probably a slightly better option than Roberts right now. He's a little slower on defense than Roberts and Sendy loves defense. But I think it comes down to this simple fact... He's not one of our top 5 guards so his minutes and shots would be limited. So we could give him Roberts' minutes each night, but then Roberts doesn't develop and if Harris is only getting a handful of minutes each night then they figure he'll bolt as a grad transfer anyways. So getting Roberts experience is better for next year when we're looking to fill Walker and Avery's minutes.

RE: Kent State @ Louisville
Ok, gotta vent for a second...

Looked at the Kent record books on the website for the first time this year (SportsReference doesn't do team records for CBB unfortunately). There were some surprising results... Jaylin Walker's 227 career 3's should be good for 3rd all time, but he's not listed in our top 10. His 655 attempted 3's should be good for 2nd all time, again not in our top 10. Jalen Avery is listed as being tied for 7th all time in scoring average at 16.5 (he's tied with someone at 16.6... because that makes sense). The problem there, Avery is averaging 6.6 points for his career. Danny Pippen's 71 blocks should be good for 10th all time, not listed.

And here's the best one, it deserves it's own paragraph... Jaylin Walker should be 11th on our all time leading scorers list... however, he doesn't appear in the top 30. There is some guy that's ranked 17th overall named "Jaylin Walkwe" though. It says's he's currently playing, not sure I've heard of him. Sounds good though...

I realize there's budget cuts and people have extra responsibilities and what not, but seriously? Basketball is supposedly our headliner sport, we have a guy who is on pace to make a run at the all time scoring title, and obliterate the all time 3's record, but he's not even listed in one category and his name's spelled wrong in the other?!? We care about Basketball... but we can't even spell our best player's name right in our record books? I understand data entry errors happen, but it seems like every update in the last year-plus has been an error. Not to mention, it's 2018 why isn't all this data being pulled straight from a database with a job set up to auto import every new box score so the report updates and you don't have to manually calculate where someone falls on a list during the year, and of course remove the chance of data entry errors.

Ok, rant over.

Omni Smith was so good in Durham it took the Blue Devils and all three ACC refs to rescue Duke that night. 32-11 at the foul line and probably the most egregious non-travel call in the history of basketball. Ahhhhh memories.

I can remember the very seat at the very the bar at which I enjoyed that game. Nuts.

"Jaylin Walkwe". That's funny! I wish I had a dime for every time I saw Trevor Huffman's name in print as "Trevor Hoffman".

That is the way Coach Waters pronounced it. Trevor jokes about that to this day.
