RE: 8 team CFB Playoff on the table

What's interesting though is that Delaney has always been a force against change. He views everything through some sepia-tinged nostalgia for the Rose Bowl and seems to let its protection drive any decisions by the Big Ten. I've wondered whether it would take him dying or retiring before the Big Ten would finally bring its clout to bear on changing the playoffs. One has to wonder whether the Big Ten Presidents and ADs have had enough and are finally forcing the issue with or without Jim Delaney.
Looks like they are doing it with him:
And by the way for the poster(s) who think the only relevant opinion is the SEC's, Finebaum is probably the most respected reporter anywhere on all things SEC.

I think when the conference's most powerful AD (Alvarez) is publicly coming out in favor of expansion, Delaney suddenly decided it was time to take the Rose Bowl's **** out of his mouth and get on the right side of history before the Presidents decided it was time for him to retire.

There are a couple ways to protect the Rose Bowl and expand the playoff. Option one is that traditional bowl tie-ins host the first round so the Big Ten and PAC-12 champs always play each other in round one in the Rose Bowl. Option two is go with a four team playoff after the bowl games. Under option 2, you can go with the four highest ranked teams that win their bowl games as the easiest method.

Or play the first four games at home of 1-4 a week after conference championship. The winners would be slotted into the current CFP Bowls and loser would be slotted into other predetermined bowls.
