I guess both the HC and DC are just lying to us. It just seems some of the App fans are more excited to drop an "I told you so" than anything. I bet the first time 4 line up on defense a few people will break a finger trying to type one out.
Not at all. What you failed to realize during this entire discussion my assertion is by all indications the defense we run going forward - 3 man front included - will simply be a departure from the defense installed by Woody. Roof, and to be clear I really like the guy, basically said so during the presser yesterday. You can run numerous schemes based out of a 3 man front.
You turned this into contentious situation ripping me for my irritation over how the search was conducted. I still say it was not a legitimate process based on Gillin not adherence to the parameters he laid out. Which included not interviewing legitimate candidates like Tim Horton, Stacey Searles, Brian Jean Mary and John Settle to name a few. I have nothing against the new staff and I hope they are immensely successful. My problem is with the Pied Piper mentality some of our fans have the everything is wonderful and don't you dare raise questions or concerns about these guys. Those proclaiming this group as the greatest staff to ever grace the sidelines of KBS before they've even conducted a practice is ridiculous. It's also a slap not only to the guys who just left, but some of those who came before JM rode onto Boone.
BTW, now that it's 99% certain he'll be coaching RB's, what about all those comments about how Dorsey developing our QB's?

Roof said "We will base out of the 3-4 but run a multiple defense". To me, if you can find some versatile outside linebackers who can play with their hand in the dirt and cover, that would be ideal. However I'm going to believe that the defensive line isn't going to be tasked with being as aggressive as they were before. With Roof, their responsibility will most likely become to keep the linebackers clean to make plays.
This means bigger defensive ends, bigger NT, and probably slightly bigger OLB. I'm hopeful that while Roof may be scheming, Smith and Gasporato maintain the ability to provide input and game planning from the previous style of defense.

Charlie Harrison is a good hire and for anyone to say otherwise would be dumb.

There's so many positive articles written about this guy from GS fans. That's very kind of them to do.

Surrounding Roof with talent makes me think he's gonna be more "hands off," making me feel better about the hire in general.

He was on our staff for about 30 minutes before he took an NFL job. Might want to put a hold on your articles for a week or so.

I like all the hires except one. Wish I didn’t have this weakest link mentality. Good luck to them hope they pound the doo doo out of everyone. I will be there to witness it! Can’t believe I am gonna agree with DG on this but we can’t give them the best staff tag just yet. They are the most experienced for sure. They will have to prove themselves like everyone else before them. On paper they look good but chemistry is a crazy thing. Here’s to hoping they become like best friends and GaSo fans can start new threads wanting Drink to leave.

He's a great athlete, no doubt. But not a great NFL QB. He's very good at his style of play. But that style of play has taken its toll on his body and we're not going to see the Cam of that year again. Just not going to happen.

You guys are absolutely insane. Cam Newton is an elite QB and don't let anyone tell you differently. Just last week defensive players were asked who the most underrated player they play against is and the answer overwhelmingly was Cam Newton. He is stuck playing in the worst offensive scheme/system in the NFL. He's spent his career playing behind horrible offensive lines, with the receiving corps being a revolving door, unathletic players at the skill positions, and offensive coaching that's stuck in the stone age. I mean look, we have to take him out for the final two games this year. And we have TWO quarterbacks get hurt in those two games. Because the offensive line is so unbelievably bad. If it weren't for Cam Newton Ron Rivera would be a defensive line coach in the Canadian league by now. Look how bad his coaching tree is!!! Sean McDermott and Steve Wilks have both been disasters once getting head coaching jobs. Meanwhile look how great Andy Reid's has been. Cam makes ridiculous plays week after week which always keeps the team in basically every game. If he played for the Rams, Chiefs, Eagles, Patriots, Steelers, etc. he'd have multiple rings by now and be considered a top 3 QB in the league. Hell he'd probably be considered the unanimous best player in the league.
Yet the Panthers and our garbage organization has ruined him. It is honestly amazing just how bad he's been mismanaged.

Evidently Dorsey's expertise in making SCAM a "great & elite" NFL quarterback won't serve much purpose at App. It appears he will be coaching RB's not QB's.

Cam's shoulder issues began by being sacked in the pocket, not from running. Try again.
He already has multiple NFL career records for rushing and is in the Top 5 in career total touchdowns through this point in a career in NFL history. Cam is far more than an athlete. Being beat up in Pitt because they kept running wide around our useless offensive tackles is what derailed this season.
