Of the 5 locations on that list, 4 are in or near CFB havens and 1 is in a faraway suburb dominated by a retiree population in an area that’s never supported sports well with 2 extremely faraway teams.

Peach or Orange with UCF vs. Florida would have been interesting. Arizona not a good spot for LSU or UCF fans.

And yet NIU vs UAB is doing OK. 07-coffee3

Now if the Cure Bowl matchup was in New Orleans, you might have been able to get $60 per ticket at a minimum.

Not to mention an 11 AM local kickoff on New Years Day. What local would want to trek 45 minutes to an hour to watch this at this time of day, much less folks from Florida or Louisiana.

Cheapest available on the secondary market. For two teams from schools in Gulf states to go out to Arizona.

It's just not a good pairing in general, imo. It's not the playoff, and there's no local team. It's a tough sell.

RE: NY6 Bowl ticket prices on Stubhub ...
Two things to note from the list

1) Southern fan bases do not travel well outside the South (long known truth)
2) the G5 opponent is a huge bummer to the fan base of the P5 school slotted to play them

My favorite one is Redbox Bowl a few miles from my house, where parking is more expensive than tickets!!!!
(advice, park at the Mountain View train station for $1 and take the light rail, about $4, to the stadium)
MonDec 31 Redbox Bowl Tickets (Michigan State vs Oregon)
12:00 PM - Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA, US from $24
MonDec 31 PARKING PASSES ONLY Redbox Bowl Tickets (Michigan State vs Oregon)
TBD - Levi's Stadium Parking Lots, Santa Clara, CA, US from $28

Note, Western fan bases do not travel well except within the West. It's not just a Southern thing, it's a better weather thing. You could argue that Southerners and Westerners are the most insular people in the US.

This is a link. Prices fluctuate

https://www.stubhub.com/college-bowl-tic...uping/352/

Thu Dec 20 Gasparilla Bowl Tickets (South Florida vs Marshall)
8:00 PM - Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL, US from $25

Basically a home game for USF. Clearly more demand than had the game been outside Florida. (Marshall fan base is not large, so I'd expect 90% of the crowd to be Bulls)

The amazing thing about the Fiesta Bowl is that LSU fans are staying away in droves and UCF fans can't be bothered to leave Florida. For UCF this is a really bad for their P5 prospects. They are showing an anemic fan base once you get beyond a few hour drive from Orlando.

They'll fill the lower bowl, but that's about it. At least they moved the game out of the Trop to a place where the Gasparilla Bowl name makes sense and to a place with grass so the title sponsor is more logical than a game played on artificial turf.

None of that mattered when Ohio State played Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago.

Also: Faraway suburb? Would ticket prices on the secondary market be 10 times higher if the game was played in Tempe? No.

It’s still early though but it’s pathetic reading some of the excuses here.

LSU fans will show up regardless. This Fiesta Bowl might remind me of the Oklahoma-UConn one years ago. It was a sea of red and I’m sure it’ll be all purple and yellow in three weeks.

The Fiesta is the perfect bowl for a Western G5 though.
