They have a really good running back and a freshman QB. That will not beat us. Nope. We will focus on stopping the run and force the Frosh QB to beat us. He will not. He will beat himself. Our offense will try everything and find something that works. Either a lot of Harbison or throws to our receivers who are finally suddenly catching the ball. Huskies will win.

I think NIU is going to win too, but this same logic could have applied to WMU. This is a really important game for Childers. Posting back to back good games heading into the offseason would be huge for him.

RE: UAB vs NIU Boca Bowl Discussion Thread
The QB is mobile and they appear to do pretty well with read option - so NIU will have to stop both the RB and QB. The QB made a couple real nice deep throws against MTSU, at least one of which went for a TD. If we can limit those big plays and make them march down the field against our D that will help a lot. Brown gets a lot of yards after contact but doesn't look like a breakaway guy.

The weather will be nice and not much wind. This will benefit Childers throwing similar to being in a dome stadium.

Beautiful day here, mid 70's, sunny, dry. Will be in the low 60's at game time. Perfect day for an NIU win. Leaving work soon heading to the game.

I almost think getting behind in the game helps Childers. For some reason, there is a paralyzing conservative nature when the game is close. If coaching can continue to evolve and not defer possessions during the game, Huskies will be ok. All rests with the development of the coaching staff, particularly Carey.

He had 3 shots at game winning/tying drives before the MACC and he was like 0-6 with 2 picks in those. Don’t think that’s the issue lol

RE: UAB vs NIU Boca Bowl Discussion Thread
Will the Power of Rod Carey CARRY NIU to victory in a bowl that's so much needed? Will the NIU D come thru in the end to thwart UAB from winning in the end? Will UAB missing an XP to lose it, lead the NIU team to Carey Rod Carey on their shoulders to celebrate glorious victory + an even longer contract extension?

I hope so! IMO, it all comes down to NIU's O. Their D will be there at least adequately -- but it'll boil down to NIU's O playing all 4 quarters. I have a feeling NIU will come through with a win.

Underestimated the UAB frosh QB. Also underestimated their coaching staff.

First play, we were torched. And we did nothing to prevent that from happening again. And so, ... it did.

Again and again!!!

I really just kept thinking about this team going into the MACC and then the firs 2.5 quarters of the MACC. They were playing awful and didn't feel they could replicate how they won the MACC. I still don't know how they beat Buffalo..... I literally turned the game off when they were down by 29-10 because I had to work early in the AM and didn't want to waste my time.

First play of the game changed everything IMO. They come out with an explosive play and we do the same thing we do everything. QB draw/run that hardly worked the whole game and I think it was a 3 and out to start.

Even the announcers mentioned that everyone knew what one of the draw plays were on the goal line later in the game and got a no gain.
